and on that note those HUGE Legacy speakers had a sweet spot... about the size of your head, move an few inches either way and they dropped considerably.

I was talking to the MBL rep and he told me that he spent quite a bit of time the first day working on the room. He pulled back the black curtain in the back of the room to show me how he had lined it with mattresses from the hotel. WHY should 360 degree speakers be finicky?at any price? i agree, why?

Because of the room... think about the rooms at the hotel... basically very bright and with lots of nulls as they were tall with lots of reflective surfaces and almost cuboid. The Martin Logans sounded dreadful in that room they were in. I've heard them before and they didn't sound that bad but the room makes a huge difference, IMHO.

then the MBL's wouldn't sound good (or very hard to tame) in my room, hardwoods, wood paneling and tall catherdral ceilings. Oh well, I'll cancel my order

I remember listening to the MBL at Axpona NYC last year..they are incredilable,,the sound that comes from all around..for 70000...i woldnt mind taking a day to setup those babies if thats the sound i can get from them..I would have to sy that they are my dream speakers,,maybe i will win lotttery some day...
