I have ERT8.3 towers, ERM6.3 center, and 4 monoprice surrounds driven by Denon 2112CI. The ERT/ERM are 4 ohms but 2112 seams to be handling it OK.
Anyhow, I have been hooked on Emotiva and plan to upgrade my setup with XPA3 for the fronts. I can not do it with the 2112, so, I was thinking about getting Denon 4311CI for $1,300. Should I do that or wait for XMC-1? Will the sound improve significantly with xpa3?
Thanks!

How can anyone answer that? The XMC-1 comes out in June-July and many won't see theirs until the fall. No one has even heard the XMC-1. No, the sound will not improve "significantly" with an XPA-3 over the 4311. More power and dynamics yes, but the Denon's a pretty good piece. I really don't think there will be a night and day difference Can you wait? If so great. If not buy something else. Denon's are nice..... NAD's and Onkyo's are better

Either route should be fine (4311 or XMC). Denon makes a great product. The XPA-3 would absolutely help power those Emotiva speaker though. You might even consider getting the XPA-5, and then later adding an XPA-2.
Good luck with your decision.

Depending on your listening habits and your taste in genre, adding an XPA Series amp could provide a significant improvement in your sound quality. The Emotiva Reference series speakers are capable of tremendous dynamic performance. The XPA amps are a great match for the ERT-8.3 and ERM-6.3 speakers and will provide a wake-up call that the amps in the Denon AVR are not capable of. If you listen to music with a lot of dynamic range and if you listen at reference levels you will love what the XPA amps bring to the party.
When Emotiva demos there equipment on roadshows these use the ERT-8.3 speakers with four XPA-1 power amps driving the two speakers. The results are spectactular.

I’ve currently got a Denon 3805 that is still going strong and sounds great, so I’m not some EMO fanboy. I’ve been looking at upgrading for over a year. Recently, I've been looking at the Denon 4311 amongst other options for a little while now and I have all but decided to go with the UMC-1 with the intention of eventually upgrading to the XMC-1 when it arrives. Reson is that at least ‘on paper’ the XMC-1 looks like the true winner. When you look at the DAC between the Denon and the XMC-1, they don’t compare. Of course, that’s why they play the game, so maybe I’ll be proven wrong… we’ll see.

"Release is slated for the summer of 2012. (No specific date was mentioned, just the season - Summer) Summer begins 06/21/12 and ends 09/22/12, or something like that. The last update we were told that it was on schedule" ;D

There is a similarity between the Anthem and the Denon. But the Marantz is a mid level pre/pro like the UMC-1 and a direct competitor that does not belong. If you have Anthem and Denon amounts of money to spend, you are above the class of the XMC-1 and the Marantz. True?

With some of the issues exhibited by "some UMC-1s" you'll have to be talking to a real audiophile for them to see the "music kernel" that the UMC-1 is. But I applaud your power to convince. My idiot friends keep retorting: "But I don't want any problems" even after they listen to my system and awash themselves in musical amazement. I could never be the salesman that you are. You are good!

JR wondered: "If you have Anthem and Denon amounts of money to spend, you are above the class of the XMC-1 and the Marantz. True? "
No. The XMC-1 mated to a good-quality, ballsy power amp will walk all over almost any receiver you can think of - and afford. And, when you consider that the XMC-1 will have the TacT RCS, the divide is even greater. Trust me, the TacT is gonna be a game-changer in the mid-price components market. If I was Denon, Marantz, Anthem, etc. I would be losing a lot of sleep over this.
I auditioned, and sold, the early TacT offerings way back in the 90s. The improvement to overall system sound-quality that it imparted was *not* subtle. And that was a very early unit (costing $10,000!!) with much less processing power, less sophisticated correction algorithms, and driving a 2-channel system. With their new ARM CPUs and greatly improved correction algorithms running in multi-channel mode, it will be a slam-dunk for TacT/Emo.
Mark My Words: Big Dan and Co. have pulled off a major coup and I can hardly wait to get my unit installed and cranking!! This is truly a new "golden age" for audio/video equipment and will be looked upon in the years to come as a major leap forward for consumer-level electronics...
