Thank you for the assurance Big Dan. I eagerly anticipate that high powered 7 channel monster to go with the XMC-1 as my current UPA-7 is married to the UMC-1, and are destined for the master suite.
BTW, why are there no T-shirts, cups, sample CDs, caps, visors, sandals, shorts, headbands, wrist bands, bras and jockey shorts listed in 'Accessories' on the product page? ;D ;D

Good point!
Just mentioned this to Cathy. We'll have the T-shirts, the "Wake Up Your Ears" coffee cups and Emotiva CD's up next week. They kind of got lost in shuffle while building out the new site. We've got lots of new content being loaded onto this site in the coming weeks.
As you know, the site is a living thing an it will continue to be fleshed out and expanded as we move along...
Cheers, Big Dan

There are two ways to take your original post. I covered both of them. If you read the verrry last line of my post (It looks like you stopped after the first sentence) your cost-no-object amps from Emotiva are on their way: XPR series amps to come out soon. Bring your checkbook or credit/debit card. Last price I heard at Emofest was starting at $2,000. Okay, but you are responding to this: I don't want or need 500 wpc. I was referring to the XPR series when I said that. What Emo had for amps 5-7 years ago would be right in my sweet spot. The current line, XPA, I find a little loose in the bass response and at the threshold of hiss in my tweeters with no volume, at least with my XPA-3(The UPA stuff was not up to par with the XPA line). I'm willing to pay more to get more from Emo, but at the 200 watt limit. They have nothing I would be interested in. This new UPA line is going the wrong direction for me. Maybe I'm out of touch.

I don't want or need a number of things that come on my computer, TV, pre/pro, car, bread maker etc. What matters is that I get what I want where I want it. So, to me, having more wattage than you need shouldn't be a deal breaker. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I've never maxed out any of my amps much less diven them hard. As far as the hiss coming from your amp, my opinion would be to get rid of it and buy an amp with a better design from a B&M store. I'm assuming that the hiss has been there since day one but you've kept it and lived with it and now you're past your 30 days. Being that cost is no object for you you should have no problem stepping up to the Rotel, Classe, or McIntosh brands. ;D Sorry if I sound trite, but I've got 3 Emotiva amps and not one of them has any hiss, whatsoever, wheither it be at 0 or full tilt. If it was a component part or design problem your hiss should be in my amps as well, especially in my UPA-2 and XPA-5.

I'm about 5 years too late to the Emo party i guess. You could always pay 2-3 times as much and get the Outlaw branded ATI amp separates. Nah...didn't think so. Emo isn't going to be able to please everyone. I think having a budget line of amps along with a premium line (think Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, etc) is a good strategy. Bring people into the fold with aggressive "starter" components and offer them an upgrade path to higher end gear once they've seen the value of using separates. And if they're well-heeled and want someone ELSE to set things up for them, they've got that covered too with Sherbourn products and an installer/dealer network. Too bad they're in TN or I'd apply for a job there. Best,

Sharkman, sounds like a power issue their new CMX units could help with? My speakers are reasonably efficient at 90 something db/1 watt, 1 meter. I hear only a tiny tiny hiss with my XDA-1 turned up to 80 direct to the amp with my ears about 5 inches from the driver. (UPA-2). Much further away than that and it's inaudible.
But I hear you on those amps. The two channel versions of the XPR are just too darn powerful. I would much prefer the quality of the XPR amps in approx 400 watts X 4 ohms monoblocks and pass the savings down to us. The XPA-1 and the XPR-1 as monoblocks is such an overkill for me, that I couldn't justify shelling out the money. But bring it down a little with lower power output but equal SNR and distortion values as the XPR, and I would be very happy.

Yep. The speed limit for most hwy here in S. Florida is 65 mph. I'll be darned if I'm going to buy a car that can only go 65mph or just a little beyond. Folks need to know that when it comes to wattage, you just can't have too much of a good thing. Emotiva has to build amps that will satisfy the majority of the market. Some philes will find a good fit. Others won't. Just keep moving on until you find exactly what you want/need. Yes, this hobby is a quest to satisfy self. Yes, sometimes selfishness is not all bad!

XPR-2 are awesome in low sensitivity speakers like 88db/1 meter/4 ohms and large living room like 3,000 square foot house.

I curently have an Acurus 100x3 amp that I'm using along with a Pioneer Elite receiver in my system. The Acurus is driving three Thiel speakers up front.....SCS3 center channel and 1.6 mains.....it works great, but I have been thinking for awhile now about replacing it with an XPA3 for the additional power, but mostly for the 12 volt trigger that the Acurus does not have. I was going to wait till the July 4th sale, but now am really giving some thought to the new UPA-500. The Thiels are 4ohm minimum so it should be interesting to see the specs on these amps.
Hopefully pics and specs will be up soon.

Hi all, You should know us better by now. The new Ultra Series amps are designed from the ground up to be great performers at GREAT prices! The problem with the old models was not quality or reliability.... they were just too expensive to build and too much like X series. We couldn't continue losing money on them. We've taken a fresh look at how to design high quality amplifiers for the budget audiophile and have designed a line of amplifiers that sound great, are extremely reliable, and match the look and feel of all of the current models, at price points that make them affordable for everyone. I think you will be well pleased by these new models. Forget the amazing price points, these are great amps and you'll be blown away by how good they sound and how nicely they are put together. And yes, they still use our fully discrete Class AB amp design, high current toroid power transformers, big caps, etc. etc. We've just gotten clever in our packaging and mechanical design. Remember, we've got our name on these products and they are Emotiva, through and through. ;D NO PLASTIC FACEPLATES!!!! No hollow front panels allowed!! Wow, I wonder if a nice two channel amp and maybe even a seven channel amp might round up the line nicely... Maybe an entry level processor?? Maybe a or a Remember. we've got over 20 new products coming out... so, lots of things to dream about. I wonder what the new models might be??? Hmmmmm.... Cheers, Big Dan That's one of the finest posts I have seen in my years as a member of the Lounge! Sincere thanks to Big Dan Laufman for dissipating my doubts about the new UPA-500 and its price/performance level. THANK YOU!PS: Sorry for being a doubting Thomas. I just couldn't believe the price point. Emotiva had better stock a ton of these. Wait until the industry learns about a real quality 125 watt x 5 channel amp at $399. The UPA-500 and UMC-1 (or UMC-100) for $899 or less. Wow, amazing!
