50% of the equipment in my signature was purchased new. The other 50% was purchased on fleabay.
Before Emotiva my main system was 90% used.

I have bought everything new almost since the beginning of my audio career. That may sound like a bold statement but the reality is I have not bought that much equipment over the years. I research, I look and I wait, then I buy and keep forever. I did finally part with a pair of Klispch speakers to a forum member being the first piece I have ever sold.

Mine would be 100% new, but I found a great deal on a slightly used XPA-2 (thanks Fernando!) exactly when I was thinking of buying an XPA-2.

I usually sit and wait until I find a used deal that I can't refuse.
I got my Mirage system for $300 if I drove to Louisville to pick it up. Made a little day trip of it and couldn't be happier.
Got my Rega for under $300 but I waited for a couple years before the deal came along.
Got the Pro-ject table for about $400. Couldn't pass that one up either.
Bought Cartrdge new though. I don't think I could risk used on that one.

Does audio show demo equal used?[/quote New is sometimes defined by "Who initiated the warranty period" Therefore, a demo piece, just like "a manager's special car" that has 12,000 miles put on by the dealership, is considered new until a private person takes title to it. Weird, but true  I would not buy used electronics from private persons unless I personally know that person and how the component was used. I have never had that opportunity though. Every component I ever own was bought new from the manufacturer ;D |

I have bought used gear in the past, but all of my current gear was bought new. Well, except for my tube buffer that I bought from Judd, but I don't use it anymore so I guess that doesn't count.

All new for me. I just don't do much used at all although my current car was purchased used (first time for me).

My system is about 80% new and 20% used at this time. But take a snapshot of past days and it could have been reversed!! ;D There are some great deals out there and there is good used equipment. There's junk too so you really have to be wise and do your homework. I've bought here on the forum, on ebay, on CL and on AG. I've only had one bad experience out of over 100 transactions and eventually got my money back on that one.  |

Everything new except the XPA-1's. Those two monoblocks are the only used audio or video gear I've ever had; everything else has been new. Including the Emo t-shirts. ;D
