Very nice, jvgillow! I really love the aesthetics of the Reference Series amplifiers. Thanks for the video.

Love it! I can almost hear the multi-channel just watching the LEDs.

I got my XPR-5 set up a couple days ago, impressed with it so far. Package arrived in good shape, one of the hard foam pieces was cracked but stayed in place during transport so it didn't matter. In the past I have always connected my amps through a power conditioner but the XPR-5 is plugged straight into the wall. Unfortunately I only have 1 circuit available so it has to share with my subwoofers and other components. I've never had a problem with tripping the breaker though. Since all the cool kids are doing it, here's a video of my XPR-5 playing the intro to Pink Floyd's Money. The volume was turned up higher than usual just for this part. I don't have a center speaker hooked up right now so you won't see any activity on the middle channel. Using a Denon AVR-3311 as a preamp. Nice vid! Im digging those speakers too!

It's about time, Jim! ;D ;D Enjoy the new purchase. Hopefully your wife doesn't take off your head later. If you go offline suddenly, I'll send a crack team of monkeys to investigate your whereabouts.

Congrats, Jim! That's quite an upgrade from the UPA-7. Let us know your thoughts once you get things hooked up and the new amp warmed up!

Congrats, Jim! That's quite an upgrade from the UPA-7. Let us know your thoughts once you get things hooked up and the new amp warmed up! I will definitely. I'm actually working on (ie, buying components for) a fully active setup for all 7 channels..... So the XPR-5 won't be my last amp purchase! And yes, I'm nuts.

What took you so long? Welcome to the Reference level! ;D I know, right!!!! A while back I had some money ready to go for the XPRs and ended up buying a pair of Seaton subs. I was tired of waiting... and of course, couple months later - XPR-5 came out! Doh!!

Took the plunge today, and ordered an XPR-5 & CMX-2 at these great holiday prices! Can't wait for it to arrive, though set up will have to wait until I get the cabinet built and a surround pre-amp selected & ordered too! (I'm leaning toward the Marantz AV8801, but its so damn expensive! Maybe the Integra 80.3? We'll see...lottsa time to decide...). ;D

Got my shipping confirmation this morning - can't wait! Maybe by Friday? How long do these things take to arrive by FedEx Ground?

Got my shipping confirmation this morning - can't wait! Maybe by Friday? How long do these things take to arrive by FedEx Ground? If you calculate it here w/Emotiva's ZIP (37064) code, it should be accurate: www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home2 days for me! (Franklin TN to Ohio)

Got my shipping confirmation this morning - can't wait! Maybe by Friday? How long do these things take to arrive by FedEx Ground? It's usually pretty quick. I get my gear in 2 days (in FL). YMMV...

TN to FL in two days? Not bad at all. Then TN to MN shouldn't be any longer I'd think(?). Maybe Thursday? Now I need to select a surround pre-pro, so it will be awhile before I can get the XPR-5 'fired up'. I'll unpack it and inspect it at least,...run my hands all over it while whispering sweet nothings, fondle the speaker binding posts, caress the aluminum faceplate, etc. - well, you guys know the drill!

Dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway... You got a tracking number when it shipped, right? Should have estimated delivery date (which is rarely wrong)

Preamp for that clip was set I think at -7 dB and I normally can listen to that song around -12 dB (on SACD). The meters are logarithmic (I think) so they will jump pretty high even with sane volume levels. On some loud music and movie scenes the meters will get within 3-4 LEDs of maximum. So basically if the meters are showing 75% full that doesn't mean the amp is putting out 75% of maximum power.
