I'll be looking for an amp for my center channel to match my XPA1s. Shud I go for upa1, xpa 100 or this xpa1L?
If my pre out for center is not balanced, will I literally only use 1 side of a fully differential power amp?

is that $699 each or pair Take a wild guess based on the prices of the XPA-1 and XPA-100.

Maybe the word "MONO-BLOCK" will give you a clue. ;D ;D ;D
In my 48 years in this hobby I have never seen a mono-block power amp priced anyway other than EACH. Buy as many as you want. Some hobbyists have purchased 7 XPA-1 power amps, one for each channel. For stereo listening, I would go for 2 mono-blocks; and, for Home Theater I would go with 3 mono-blocks, one for each of the front speakers (FL, FR, and Center). Whatever configuration you want you will pay $699 each.

well if its going to be that much you would be better off buying xpa-1 on sale or used

well if its going to be that much you would be better off buying xpa-1 on sale or used Not necessarily. The XPA-1L will offer more Class A power (30 watts) in a smaller form factor. It will also have a toggle to switch from Class A to Class AB. Whether one feels these features are worth it is another matter entirely. I certainly do.

I was wondering if anyone "in th know" has heard more about the launch date. Also, does Emotiva typically have a Christmas sale? I want an XSP-1, but I will wait a few weeks if it will save me a few bucks.

Hopefully, the next Podcast will give us an update on the shipping status. If you are anxious to buy, the best thing to do is contact Emotiva and ask them directly. The forum is not monitored by Emotiva; and, as such, Lounge members are reporting the latest rumor on when things will ship.

I anxiously await the next podcast...there should be a lot of "now in production and will be on the boat soon" news...

I just ordered a pair of Tyler Acoustic D112's and am thinking about trying a couple new setups. I currently have Cambridge Audio separates (840w & 840e) and I like them. But getting 30 watts of class A and a fully balanced design at this price is too good to pass up. And if the Emotiva gear doesn't surpass my CA, I will likely give class D a shot... thinking Bel Cantos. Then I am going to pause and enjoy the music!

Congrats on the new Tyler speakers. Hope you enjoy them
I just ordered a pair of D4M's and a Decade center yesterday.
Ty is a great guy...and he builds nice speakers, too!
I also have a pair of his Taylo Reference Monitors in my 2-Channel system.
When I last spoke with him he mentioned he was doing good business with mastering studios so he must be doing something right.

Ok... I am impatient ! I heard on the Nov podcast that the XPA-1-L was expected around the end of the year. Then there was hardly a mention of it in the Dec podcast. I called Emotiva and spoke to a very kind rep who said it likely wouldn't be available in the first quarter of 2013. What's up? Any of you experienced Emotivites know something different? Thanks, Chip

I'm curious how much more of a resolution would you get from class A.

I'm curious how much more of a resolution would you get from class A. As with anything it depends on the rest of your system, especially the speakers.
