With regard to the pricing of the XPR series amps, you need to remember that during 2011/2012 Emotiva reported that wages and shipping charges from China had nearly doubled. This was reported during various Podcasts. With this knowledge in hand, you could not expect any of the projected pricing to remain at the level projected prior to the enormous increase in wages and shipping costs. That is true, I totally forgot about that

Supposed to be shipping by March 15, if I heard right on the latest podcast (2/27/12). Will be on the site on 3/4 or 3/5.
Class A or A/B switch on front.
250W/8 or 500W/4. 35W of pure class A. It will transition into Class A/B if you try to clip it.
2U.
Sweeeet!

I have a feeling we are going to see quite a few XPA-2's in the emporium soon.

I have a feeling we are going to see quite a few XPA-2's in the emporium soon. We shall see. I think that it's going to come down to price point. If it's half the price of the XPA-1, I could easily see that. If it's closer to the cost of an XPA-2, probably not so much. Looking forward to seeing some reviews and new pictures when it's out.

I must admit that two of these are intriguing me for 2 channel listening, but I won't be giving up my XPA-2 so easily, besides I've hardly broken in my XPR-2.

Big Dan made a big deal about this being half a XPA-1 .. Half the wattage, half the size. I hope we get half the price and I hope they retire the XPA-100. Why would you need two 250w mono block amps around the same price.
I'm sure the price s closer to $700 as stated before.... But how do you sell... Half the XPA-1, but 70% of the price.
I'm sure the difference and focus will be the Class A spec. It would be intriguing to be able o run AB for HT and Class A for music. If you have speakers efficient enough. Just not sure that I'll be able to come up with $1400 for a pair of amps.

Up until fairly recently I have had a 25 watt class A stereo amp and I have a strong feeling that a pair of XPA-1L's (250 watts) might just compliment the XPA-5 (200 watts) for 7.1 HT. With the bonus of 35 watts of class A for stereo. It's like having cake and pie, sounds good to me.
Cheers Gary

What I like about the XPA-1L over the XPA-1 is the lower 29db gain. That plus being fully balanced, plus class A A/B, should make this Emotiva's best amp to date.

/me waits patiently. Will it be enough to get me to sell my XPA-1s? Why would you trade in a 1 for a 1L? Just for the increased class A? I forget what a 1 does in Class A. I thought it was 5-10W.

I get the half the wattage and size. That's valuable for someone who doesn't want the bigger XPA-1 case, and doesn't need the high wattage. I'm curious to see how much interest there is in the market for a good class A. I'm guessing plenty, because otherwise they wouldn't be making the 1L!

It's also 2RU, a boon for those of us desiring or needing a low-profile mono-block solution with "adequate" power. Let's face it, 250/500 watts is going to cover the majority of listening levels with plenty of headroom to spare. I will be purchasing 1-3 of these as soon as my financial situation improves (shaking my fist at you, IRS). In the meantime, I still drool every time I fantasize about these amps.

Not totally. In my Standout Haven 82, I'm trying to figure out where to put all the amp power for a five channel setup. The Oppo and XSP-1 take up the center channel space. One XPA-1 on each side for my bookshelf speakers right now. The glass panels are not "officially" rated for more than 50 lbs. each. Sales rep said I could put a bigger amp on, customer service wouldn't sign off. So I either need to figure out how to cleanly integrate my other XPA-1 and the XPA-2 for the rear channels, or choose some smaller amps. I also have my APC H15 stuffed in the left amp cabinet, too.

Home theater processors usually have a way to adjust levels on the channels to compensate for this.
