cisgo,
Will do. What confounds me the most is how to discribe the sound. Sometimes the english language or my command of it seems lacking. At any rate the amps should be here Friday so hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to play with them. I can tell you the Lore-S are not going anywhere soon ;-)

I would agree with you - if Emotiva hadn't stated that it's 35 in 4 and 8. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that I'd read it in a couple posts from Emotiva staff. I know I've read it in more than one post by Emotiva staff. It was also confirmed by Lonnie in a personal email to me. ...

A heads up folks; I just picked up a pair of XPA 1-Ls which had just been added to the warehouse sale (at a nice price). Can't wait to hear them. There are a few left, I believe-

Just let'er rip. Again so far I'm very happy with my 1Ls. I can't imagine any other monoblocks anywhere near this price point that come close to the clean, natural sound I'm hearing. XPR-1s would no doubt outshine these in the bass department but the 1Ls are definitely no slouches there either. The best description I can give is that sound coming out of my system sounds like real music.

Glad to report that serial numbers 077 and 147 have found a home.
My favorite truck arrived yesterday and boxes were flying open. First to rearrange, box up the xpa200 and then to place and wire up the xpa-1L's. They are hefty little buggars and a bit bigger (depth wise) than I had realized. Not a problem though, just mentioning. Yes, I had to strip back about 1 and 1/2 inches off my speaker cables (emo) to be able to get them to reach accross and be able to plug into the 1L output terminals.
The moment of truth came and I carefully began to turn on all the power switches. I was seriously wandering if I was going to hear any pops, buzzes, humms...nothing, Cool, I was feeling good. Time for some music. CD in...what the heck I'm only getting sound out of my right channel...oh no I have a bad amp??? (my mind raced thinking about the 75 pages of thr trials and tribulations of others). Hold on I told myself it must be something simple. Well after some brief reflection I realized I had forgot to plug in the balanced connection! Just SOS (stuck on stupid). Being that this is a state that I have been in before I quickly regrouped and put my big boy pants on, sucked it up and then sat back to listen.
As the CD (Dire Straits) was spinning up I wondered am I going to really hear any difference? That moment did not last long and I brought the volume up to a relaxed level. I was not prepared for what my ears heard. My first thought was that my speakers were on steriods...not in loudness just a fuller sound top to bottom. Next there was a sense of airiness, tones stood out by themselves and just seemed to linger longer, bass was had more umph. In short I did not have to play alot of music before I realized that Lonnie really did come up with something special with this amp. If I had been blindfolded I would have said that I was now listening to a tube amp if that helps to explain the sound qualities I was hearing. Went on to play a few more CD's and to be honest I just gave up on being concerned about the differences...At this point I was in audio nirvana and pretty much did care about any electronic fu or the whys and tech stuff, only what my ears told me and that was good.
Kudo's to Emo and Lonnie, you knocked it out of the park imho with this amp!

After long read of this post i was very interesting about take 2 XPA1L instead of my actual XPA-2.
My speacker are B&W XT4 (very hard to drive (need giant electric power) with theyre 86 sensibility and alumium case).
Is replacement of XPA2 can be a good choice, for those who test the two amp?

UPDATE
I've spend a ridiculous amount of time studying various power amplifiers, with particular emphasis on comparing the XPA-2 versus the XPA-1L.
This weekend, I got a chance to meet most of the Emotiva team at T.H.E Show (audio exposition) in Newport Beach California. Lonnie was kind enough to sit down with me and thoroughly answer all my technical questions. For the record, he is the real deal, a true audio enthusiast and a savvy technical authority. Based on this discussion the biggest difference, besides the obvious (mono versus 2-channel and Class A bias), is that the XPA-1L is a "Fully balanced, Differential Referenceā¢ design with quad differential input stage and cross-coupled active current sources." This design gives the XPA-1L a clear edge over the "dual differential" design of the XPA-2. I can't do justice to Lonnie's explanation, but suffice to say that the voltage is handled in a more efficient manner. This should result in what we all want, higher fidelity sound.
If you want a bargain on sheer power for 2 channels then the XPA-2 is the clear choice, but if you want a more precision power amplifier, for not a lot more money, then two (or more) XPA-1L's are the ticket! I ordered 2 XPA-1L's, minutes after speaking with Lonnie. I also want to note, Lonnie did not try to pitch a sale, he was completely objective in his advice.
I may still buy an XPA-2 to upgrade my second system, which has vintage Polk SDA-1C's (they require a common ground amp), but for my reference system, the XPA-1L's offer the perfect fit of quality, price, and performance.
I'll update the forum, when I have them set up and tested in my system. However, as I stated in previous posts, no two systems or even two sets of ears will be identical. You can have this reviewers opinion, for what it is worth, though.

UPDATEYou can have this reviewers opinion, for what it is worth, though. - Andre I believe that is exactly what we are asking for, a fellow enthusiasts honest review. Which is very important for us half a world away where the 30 day return is not really an option. For me the XPA-1L is an important amplifier, there is really nothing like it at a price that I'm willing to pay. So please post up your impressions early and often. Cheers Gary

That was also my experience talking with Lonnie for the first time a few years ago. I could tell he loved audio. His comments and recommendations were based on technical matters versus business. Great guy! Enjoy your new amps! ...

I have finally committed myself of buying those two babies. One year ago I had a Denon AVR 4306 and the world was mine. I thought it was the best sound I have ever heard in my life. Wrong! I have bought the XPA-5 and the UMC-200. My previous world disappeared quickly. I know the SQ in my apartment is perfect. The XPA-5 and the UMC-200 sound as same as I am in my favourite live club in Sofia. My living room is huge as 500 sq yards and it is L-shaped. I will give you all a feedback the moment I could do so. I am very happy with this purchase. VIVA LAS EMOTIVA!!!

Taxman, you have a 500 sq. yd. "apartment" living room? Man, that is HUGE, where did you find an apartment that big - where do you live?
And Milsap - another Gallo owner, eh? How did you come to get the CL-4s? Have you heard them in comparison to the Ref. 3.5s? I guess you ordered the CL-4s direct from Gallo using their 60-day no risk policy? How long did it take you to determine that they were "keepers"? I know I *love* my Ref. 3.1s and my Ref. AVs/Center...

rlw--- I started looking at the cl-3 based on the great reviews that they were getting. I wanted a small tower speaker with good base extension seeing I was living in a small apt the time. There is not a whole lot of choices out there. I had looked at the Def Tech Mythos sts, Jamo, some of the smaller B & W speakers, and new martin logan ESL seeing that is all my local dealer had in stock. I loved the Martins but the sweet spot was just so small. The others while nice didn't blow me away and were two to three times the price. I was ready to order a set of the 3's and came across a set of demo 4's for the same price. I took a chance. I have been very happy with them, I love the wide sweet spot and the good base. I do think the 26 hz rating is a little generous... They are pretty tiny in person. I would have liked the Ref 3.5 but at 5 grand were out of my price range. They are a good starter speaker. I do have the xpa-2 and it is a little bright for my taste with these speakers and after hearing twead say his xpa-1l's had more of a tube like sound, thought I would give them a chance.
