Thanks for the suggestions. I am running on two different CMX-6 and I have swapped the cables twice (between amps and new cables). I read this was a problem with earlier units, but I figured by now this would be a non issue. I just want to know if it will damage my speakers or not? I guess I will call Emotiva today on the issue.

One of my amps does the same. I found that switching to Class A then power on stopped the problem. However, that's for the reminder, I too need to call Emotiva.

It is quite annoying, but fortunately does go away. I am just curious if I could inadvertently damage my speakers with it.

Contacted Emotiva this morning and they gave me two options, I could cross ship the 1Ls for replacement 1Ls or return them and upgrade to XPA-1s. I took the opportunity to pay the difference and move to XPA-1s. That should fix the problem Thank you Emotiva for the always excellent customer service.

This makes me a bit worried. I am just about to pull the trigger on 2-3 of these and I really don't want to deal with buzzing. Is anyone else who has received these in the past 60-90 days still having these issues? REALLY want the amp, but not the headaches...

Chris, they are fantastic amps and I would not dissuade you from buying them. My recommendation is to call Emotiva and speak with Grayson in sales and tell him the situation. He will be very familiar with the issue as he sold me mine and has helped solve the problem. Emotiva may be able to test the amps prior to shipment to verify they are problem free. It was explained to me why they still have some that may not have been fixed, but it really isn't for me to say.

Just received my pair of these amps! (Posted under 'Chris H' above prior to signing up on the forum)....will not be able to test them out until the rest of my stuff arrives from MN, as I just moved down to Charlotte. Took a look at them though, and they look fantastic! With the 20% off sale during July, how could you pass these up!?

OK, so I am brand new to this forum. I just purchased a XSP-1 and a XPA-2 to replace some really old vintage equipment. I have it connected to an OPPO BDP-105, a Denon 59L TT, and I have an EQ hooked up to a TEAC vintage Cassette deck, powering Polk SDA 2 full-range speakers from the 80's. So some old, some new now. My question is would a XPA-1L monoblock sound better than the XPA-2 since it is fully balanced? I could order them and see which one sounds better, then send whichever one I didn't like back since I have the 30 day trial period. Also, I wouldn't need a sub since I have a full range Polk, correct? Also, I read on another thread that I can hook an external tube amp into the RCA main output of the XSP-1 since I am using the XLR cables going to the XPA-2 power amp. Just doing 2-channel stereo here. So let me know if this all makes sense. Thanks for any help you can give.

Two channel, XSP-1 and a set of XPA-1Ls is the sweetest way to go. I say , do the side by side and you'll keep the MONOBLOCKS every time. Plus they are half the weight, I know that many super studs don't worry about moving their gear but with Gods Good Grace you too will age like a mortal man and will appreciate this point!! My second system is a mixed bag as well, that said, I once had a set of the XPA-1Ls and I was sorry they left,,,,,,,so sorry in fact that I now have another set in the house and will never be so foolish again. I myself have 3 1L's, that being said keep the XPA-2 and don't worry about it, the difference if there would be very minimal at best as the XPA-2 is an excellent amplifier and I honestly could not tell a difference between them, the XPA-2 should not leave you wanting more from the amplifier itself, I'm not saying the 1L's are terrible I am saying the XPA-2 is awesome, I had one and I loved it but felt the bug to change and I did , like you mentioned you could grab a pair and try doing a blind test but the 1L's do not have a 30 day trial at their sale price. Listen to Chad, he is giving you sage advice. The XPA-2s are *excellent* amps, don't sweat the Class A stuff, it is of very little real importance....

I have XPA-1Ls and frankly when I switch back and forth between A/AB I hardly notice a difference. I did noticed that on some CD, the highs are more pronounced in AB than in A mode. Both equally good... just different.

Anyone have XPA-1Ls with DC-1? Hows the sound with vinyl? I hear its great with XPS-1 I have... turntable ---> XPS-1 ----> DC-1 ---> XPA-1L. They do sound great but frankly I don't have anything to compare it with. The last time I heard vinyl was in high school (34 years ago) and I remember the sound to be different... I remember it to be much fuller and warmer. I guess because we had a tube based system back then. Come Monday (Labor Day) I have a friend coming to the house and he is bringing some Tube phono and preamp. Then I will have some comparison.

yea ,you cant compare to a tube amp, thats a completely different sound. from what I have been told at least.
Hope all sounds like you want when you do your comparison, make sure you let us know the outcome.
Thanks Dave

Anyone have XPA-1Ls with DC-1? Hows the sound with vinyl? I hear its great with XPS-1 This question , how the sound with vinyl, to me is almost an impossibility!!! What TT? What cartridge? What music? What speakers? i have used the XPA-1Ls with a TT through an XSP-1 which I'm told has a XPS-1 phono pre in it ( sort of ) and I've love the sound. Ive also listened to the DC-1 with the -1Ls and that also has a great sound but that was digital music and not a TT THROUGH a phono pre amp.. what specifically are you asking? I can configure almost any they of system your asking about, with Emo gear that is.

Nick Unfortunately, I talked to the rep friday. I was just about to pull the trigger and buy the monoblocks and happened to mention that I have Polk SDA-2 speakers. The rep I talked to said that I couldn't use them with Polks since the 1Ls are not common ground. He said none of the monoblocks are common ground, and the SDAs need common ground amps. In fact the rep had SDA-1Cs at home. So I will have to stay with the XPA-2's. They are pretty awesome though I must admit. One other question - I am using the XSP-1 pre-amp, and I have my external headphone amp running in the RCA main output, but I don't have the ability to suppress the main output like that unless I unhook the amp from the pre-amp. Does anyone have any idea how I can run my external tube amp so I would have every source available ? I'm already using the processor output with my EQ going to my TEAC tape deck. Thanks for any responses.
