Ground problem is highly unlikely, as this happens even when source is not connected to mains. It happens with optical input, too, where there should not be any chance for building a ground loop. As this came up just recently and is limited to asr mode I suppose it is either a bad batch of chips or a firmware problem. Too bad.
Apart from that problem the DC-1 is just perfect for my setup, driving my headphones (Focal Spirit pro, AKG K845, Shure SE530) and my desktop monitors (Genelec 1029a) with ease and no audible noise at all. I would really like to see asr fixed, however.

My Dac1 is stuck in " 0db fixed output" and I can't get it out. I am unable to return to "variable volume" or anything other then " 0db fixed output ". Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mine is too, did you ever get this resolved?

Mine is too, did you ever get this resolved? Have you tried a hard unplug from the wall? I assume you are familiar with how to use the menu and the "enter" button (press it in).

Unfortunately yes, I am scouring the earth looking for clues.....the previous owner seems to remember there was some non-intuitive trick, but cannot remember what it was. Did you resolve your issue?

This is something that needs to be changed in the settings.
You have to select the option and then make sure to click on it to choose it.
It is not enough to just scroll to the setting.
Once set I beeline it will have a little arrow or Mark showing it is selected.

Are there any new DC-1 owners out there? I was wondering if the noise issue has been resolved because I want to re-order one!

^^^ I'm an owner, but have had no noise issue to resolve, lately, or ever... Is there a known noise issue which affects many of the units?

A few people on this forum and over on head-fi mentioned the issue, but it was only fairly recently that it surfaced I believe. I was just wondering if there was any new owners out there and if they had any problems with noise.

AFAIK, there's no "known noise issue". Anyone suffering from such issues should contact Emotiva, they'll straighten it out. I've had nothing but sonic bliss from mine.

I haven't noticed any buzzing from my DC-1 headphone outputs or the bal/unbal analog outputs.

I guess I should ask in a different way. Has anyone purchased the DC-1 in the past month that didn't have noise issues?

David, there are so many out there w/o any issue. I suspected on your first one you had an issue with the unit and should nhave asked for an exchange, and I highly suspect if you ordered a new one it would be fine. And if it was not, I would really suspect something in your system.

Hi,
what is the proper way to contact support? I sent them an email regarding the buzz issue, but did not get any response. I used support@emotiva.com.

Your best option is to call. They are a rarity these days in that you get to speak to humans. Email like you did works, but they are slow on email, though.
