Looks awesome edogg. Are there grates on the front doors? I think I would remove the middle door if it were mine. That XPR-5 is just begging to be seen. LS6s and XPR-5, must sound killer Thanks mang! The 2 outside doors have a mesh front & the middle door has an A/T fabric material covering it. Checkout the Studiotech website, it's the U22 model.

94 pounds unboxed?!?!?!? That's a monster! It looks great. Can't wait to hear more about the amp and how you like it. Its a lightweight compared to the 125lb Cinenova. But its (IMO) definitely a beauty & the beast in the aesthetics department. ;D

Did you see the custom face with the doors off? Something to think about Unless all the blue lights would distract during movies.

Quick update: I did get a chance to demo some of my favorite action scenes last night. These are scenes that I've watched a ton of times and im very familair with. Well there was a few instances were I was caught a little off guard (startled really) by the dynamics of the XPR. Like I've mentioned before, the Cinenova I was previously using was no slouch, but it seems like this guy just takes it to another level. More to come............ Try out the train wreak scene 18 minutes into the Blu-ray of "Super 8", and then get back to us with your report! ;D BTW, are you running the XPR-5 off of your Denon AVR's pre-outs? If so, also let us know how that's working out - and any differences you've experianced there too. Fun stuff!

What you posted is exactly my experience and what I posted last month. I believe I said something about this amp "sneaking up on ya". The liquidity/fluidity of the ups and downs is simply stunning. This thing blows away any amp I've owned previously (including 5 x UPA-1), and over a month later...I still sit here in front of it with a big sh!t eating grin on my face. Keep the impressions coming...

That's one fine looking power amplifier you have there! ;D ...says another XPR-5 owner! This thread makes me want to crank up my XPR-5 right now, but that will have to wait till tomorrow when I'm back from my business trip.

Yeah the amp's running off the pre-outs with the Denon in "pre-amp" mode. Quick update: I did get a chance to demo some of my favorite action scenes last night. I think I'm gonna use that one if you don't mind. ;D I've had a bunch of Emo amps (UPA-1, 2; XPA-1,2,3,5; RPA-2) before, and this one is my favorite. Well not sure about the XPA-1's yet. The jury is still out on that one. I need more play time to decide.

Awesome Mr.Dogg! I love the look of that beast and your room.
I'd also like to take this time to point out the fact that Eric is using a 20A plug on a 15 amp circuit and it works fine. I said this from the start and got called out by many people saying it wasn't going to work/not work well. Well thats 3 people doing it and all have had fine results so far.

You're definitely right about the 20amp thing. I've tried some pretty hefty pro-amps that'll pull more juice than the XPR ever will. Running 10hz sine waves (at near max levels) and pretty much torturing the amp and subs without ever tripping a breaker. Thats why I was so sure that simply swapping outlets would not cause a problem, especially when listening at "real world" levels.

Another quick update:
We have family in from out of town these last few days and last night they asked to watch the HURT LOCKER. Ive seen the movie a few times but i cant say im very familiar with it (other than the 50cal scene). Anyhow the movie, the SQ actually was SPECTACULAR!!! The XPR has the resolution and finese needed to reproduce all the small little details that are present on the soundtrack, yet has the guts and raw power to handle any and all dynamics.
Im hoping to get a chance this weekend to watch Star Trek & Thor. My wife loves those movies so we've seen them about 2 dozen times (at least). Cant wait to see how the XPR handles these well known (to me) audio tracks.

YOu guys with the xpr5 are so lucky. I rent right now so dont have a 20 amp outlet. If it would work on a normal plug I would get one and just not push it hard for now
