XSP-1, APC H15 and Standout Haven 82 Rosenut

Sounds like some people wants some interior pics on the XSP-1, so here they are, as well as a picture of my new APC H15, XPA-1 pile of amps, and on November 1st my Standout Haven console will be delivered. Then maybe things will be a little cleaner.

Now if people could make some suggestions on how to get cigarette smoke smell out of my used XPA-1s, it would be appreciated. I'm thinking of 99% isopropyl alcohol, wipe the exterior down, spray the interior and blast with compressed air, and spray down some more and let air dry in outside heat.

3 beautiful XPA-1 amps for a stereo only setup?

I also have an XPA-2 in the closet that I used before moving here and acquiring the monoblocks. Also got them for a nice deal so I wasn't going to turn down grabbing all three for little more than the price of two new ones.

I'm thinking if I don't do a five channel surround I could use the full range subwoofer output to make a three speaker stereo setup.

To get rid of smoke is tough. An Ozone generator like the old Alpine air purifier might help.

FYI: checked ebay. several Alpine XL-15 ozone generators were listed.

I'm also glad to see you've got your priorities straight. Step #1 after a move-in requires setup of HT/stereo equipment. ;D You've got a fantastic system there. Enjoy!

Three XPA-1s and an XPA-2 for power is nothing to sneeze at.

The ones you have were actually given a very positive review from "Secrets".

In their review they say:

"For the price, this speaker is an absolute gem. Not considering the price, this speaker is still a gem."

At least you have some good speakers to listen to until you have the opportunity to upgrade.

I do love their sound quality, especially for how much I built them for. They were my first kit speakers. My second kit was Exodus/CSS FR125 full rangers in sealed boxes, hooked up to my Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 Ultra amp on left/right duty for the computer.

What the GR's lack is dynamic range, but that's not their fault.

You guys are right, the stereo was pretty much the first order of business when moving in to give me some music while unpacking.

Next project is to tackle my Exodus HT kit which I've had the drivers for for several years. Kit 2641 mains, LCR center and 61 rears for a 5 channel setup.

The good news: I got my console, and it is awesome!

The bad news: Two broken glass shelves. Standout is shipping two new ones tomorrow.

The head scratching news: How to manage wires.....Need more interconnects of correct lengths. Or just wire up the XPA-2 for now.

Finally!

This isn't the final config. I can't get the back panels on the console because I need some 90 degree power connectors for the amps. The roomie will eventually move out and take the large PS3 with him, freeing up some space. Also, my PS3 and possibly the 222ES will have their places taken by an Oppo BDP-105 next month.

Only suggestion I have is casters. You can get wide, super heavy duty ones from WW Grainger. They will raise the unit about three inches. Casters came with my Studio Tech console and I would not want to live without them. Getting to the back of the unit now is a piece of cake.

Looks good. I was thinking about getting the Standout Designs Haven myself for the new house. Do you have any comments on build quality, clearance issues, cooling, finish materials, etc? I really want to make sure it's what I want before I drop 2-3 grand on one.
