With the podcast announcing that the XPR-1 and XPR-2 are due sometime in mid December-ish.... Who is getting one? More power than I need (or want right now), but could be loads of fun with the right speaker.

I will be but I have a few things for the house that are higher on the needs list. I don't want my XPR-5 feeling lonely so the XPR-2 will be in my home theater sooner or later. My goal is to have these Reference series power amplifiers matched with the yet to come Reference series speakers.

I am going to buy xpr-2 to replace my xpa-2. I notice that my xpa-2 is always going into portection mode. Two days ago I was listening to the music and after 8 mins, it went into protection mode again and again.

Hopefully, my XPA-5 and XPA-1's will fetch some decent money, they are mint and not very old at all....

As you guys know, I am currently running an XPR-5. I had planned to go XPR-1 x 3 + XPR-2 (for surrounds). I sold my 5 UPA-1 in June, and was going to run my old Chiro amps until the XPR-1 & 2s came. However, in August Emo told me the 1 & 2 weren't coming until early 2013...and I couldn't take the Chiros anymore. So I got an XPR-5.
This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The XPR-5 still has me smiling from ear to ear 2 months later.
I still plan to get XPR-1 x 3 for my front speaker array. Then the XPR-5 will slide into where the XPR-2 was going to go (for surrounds). I was excited to hear the XPR-1s are imminent. However, not sure if I'll get them right away. Ideally I'd like to get the new Revel Performa3 first (F208x4 + C208). However, if they have some sort of cant miss intro holiday deal on the 1s...I may go ahead and get them now.

The goal is 2 XPR-1's and a XPR-5.... Yikes thats a lot of $$$ :-) It depends how you look at it.... for the price of all three XPR amps you could buy one amp (with about 1/4 the power) from a "BIG" brand. You might have to kick in a little extra $$ too!!

"If you have to ask how much something costs, you probably can't afford it!"

I think it was stated by Dan or Lonnie (sorry Dan, I always mix up what you say with Lonnie!) a while back that the XPA-1 is always going to be the SQ leader...... But my guess is the XPR-1 will probably sound just as good!

I need only 2 amplifiers for my 7.2 & 2.2 systems. So an XPR-7 and XPR-2 would do just fine. I don't think that there will be an XPR-7. The XPR-2 will be here this month. However, amplifiers are last on my list of components. The XMC-1 and X/Ref-15 subs are No.1 & No. 2 respectively now that the Panny TC-P65VT50 and the Oppo BRP-103 are only 96 hours away ;D

I wanted to share a semi-OT thought that I had.
I attended 3 classes w/Dr. Floyd Toole @ Cedia Expo 2012 on Home Theater Audio and Acoustics. He asked an interesting question to the installers/integrators: "What's the typical per channel wattage that you're installing in customer's homes?" Now, keeping in mind that that a lot of what they install is the big name, boutique stuff......... Around 100 WPC was by far the most popular answer.
I thought that was a REALLY interesting answer, because it spoke less about what people were willing to pay, and more about just how *expensive* the amps were that were being sold.
Funny in my mind, when we're talking about amps that are *hundreds* of watts per channel.

I think that most people who get these installers are looking for convenience rather than performance. I have listened to a bunch of those theaters and many are good only for second room or garage systems. You and I would not want them for a main system. Very few of those systems are truly performance high-end. This also makes more profit for the installers. Then again, I tend to go overkill ;D!

I just think that the value of what we're getting direct from Emotiva is *huge* when you look at what's being installed in theaters that even cost a couple hundred grand. Profit is everything (ok, not EVERYTHING) to installers... I was just taken a-back when I learned what a typical mid to mid/high home theater / screening room has. Performance/high end easily gets into the half million dollar range for a room.

First thing first is finding a standing equipment rack to put the XPR series in. Right now, I've got a VTI modular rack that is upgraded for 5 shelves. Two of the bottom shelves fit a pair of XPA-1s but won't fit the XPR series. www.wayfair.com/VTI-BL-Series-Modular-Rack-BL304-VI1005.htmlI'd like to find a new equipment rack to fit at least two of the XPR series. Budget : $500.00 to $1000.00 Any suggestions?

To clarify, by standing equipment rack, you mean with shelves - like the VTI system, not one with rails (like Middle Atlantic, etc, etc)

I'm thinking shelves like VTI but all options open.
