Interesting. Thanks for posting. Public apologies for my doubting.
So, given Jessica said something about posting the UMC-200 manual on Monday, anyone else think we'll also see on Monday an update on the amp page with these two bad boy amps, and at these prices for the Holiday Sale?

No offense taken, I'm all good The jump in power from the XPA-1 to the XPR-1 is considerable...and it's not like the XPA-1 was low on power to begin with

You know when your own plug points start lacking the power to provide for your amps, things are getting serious.

LOL! 1200 Watts into 8 ohms from a home theater amp? What kind of home speakers would need this much power, and be able to handle it? Then again these are even more of a bargain than XPA-1's. 2.4 times the power into 8 ohms for 1.5 times the price. And at the sale price its only $560 more than MSRP on a pair of XPA-1's. I would definitely skip over the XPA-1's and go straight for the XPR-1's if my UPA-1's ever die on me.
Btw, anyone know of they're stable into 2 ohms?

We don't have the complete official details on the XPR-1/2 yet, but I believe the XPA-1 remains the only fully balanced amplifier. So if you wanted that feature, you need to choose the vastly underpowered XPA-1s!
EDIT: Thanks garbulky.

However there are some differences. I'm assuming the XPR-1 is class H while the XPA-1 is class A-B correct?
EDIT: Darkranger. I believe the XPR-1 is fully balanced even though it is not part of the official differential reference line for some reason.

Oh really? How could I have missed that? Interesting. I definitely didn't see the "Differential Reference" stencil work on any of the XPR-1 pics (see pic below) Thanks. I'll update my post. In any case, a couple of XPR-1s should jump-start a small planet. I'd love to have that much power, but it would be so stupidly overkill for my small room.

I assumed it was. Still, the Reference series amps don't seem to follow the pricing scheme of the X series amps. Going by the XPA-1/XPA-5 pricing, I was expecting the XPR-1 to cost more than an XPR-5. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

I must have miscommunicated Danny. I believe the XPR-1 is fully balanced. Edit: here's the post from Lonnie There is a XPR-1 coming, but it won't fully balanced. Facelift? I don't think so.. Pull the trigger? You mean buy? :-) :-) Actually the XPR-1 is fully balanced. Just thought I would clarify that.

Is XPR-1 class A/B or class H ?

I believe it will be like the XPR-5, which is stated on the product page as follows: Topology: Fully discrete, dual differential, high current, short signal path Class A/B amplification with Optimized Class-Hâ„¢ power supply topology.

I would definitely skip over the XPA-1's and go straight for the XPR-1's if my UPA-1's ever die on me. I went from UPA-1s to XPR-5. It's not even close how much better the XPR is. You can read some of my comments in the XPR-5 threads, and interestingly enough some other members posted very similar impressions (re: the speed, quickness, dynamics, etc). I am 90% there on adding 3 XPR-1s now or in 2013. If you go from UPA-1 to XPR-1...I suspect you will be floored...

Hey Redcoat,
You didn't happen to see an ad for the XPA-1-L, did ya?

Edit: here's the post from Lonnie Actually the XPR-1 is fully balanced. Just thought I would clarify that. Ah ha! Thank you. I also found this which completely removes all doubt: The XPR-1 is fully balanced from in to out, but we are not listing it as part of the "Differential Reference" line even though it technically qualifies. Congratulations to me! I am now informed! I still can't help but wonder why the XPR-1 is not being listed as part of the Differential Reference series. Oh well, it's what's inside that counts. So it appears that the XPR-1, XPA-1, and XPA-1L (from pictures) will all be fully balanced mono-blocks. Although, if the announced UPA-100 is put into production, I'm pretty darn sure it won't be fully balanced. ;D

These are perfect for serious 2ch setups paired with a XSP-1 driving elite speakers like Maggie 20.7s or something of the like. (yum) I doubt you will see too many sets of 7 of these in a HT setup.

I doubt you will see too many sets of 7 of these in a HT setup. Oh, just you wait until I win the lottery! I'm gonna be one of those few with 7 of these bad boys powering my HT. I've already contracted with the utility company to build a substation in my back yard. ;D P.S. Big Dan told me that if I buy 7 XPR-1s, that I can get each one signed by Lonnie, plus a weekend getaway to Emotiva Land all expenses paid. And better yet, the Emotiva crew will thrown in an RMC-1 for free.

Well at $14K the 20.7s are not exactly budget speakers either.

Well, I guess thy posted the manual for the UMC-200 today. I had hoped that meant today/Monday was going to have multiple additios to the site, including the XPR-1 & 2. But that doesn't look to be the case.
Big Dan holding out on me again... :-)
