Frankly I am a bit disappointed that the XPR1 is going to have a 2500 VA transformer. I was hoping it would have the 3300 VA of the XPR-5. Its not like they would need to build from scratch!

Are you saying you want a 6000 watts @ 4ohms stereo setup? Woooowheee! ;D Or you could use it as an extreme subwoofer amplifier.

Dark Ranger...when u win the lottery, r u also building a power plant @ your house to feed those monsters!?!? Oh, most definitely! If I can't get a substation installed, then I'll construct my own fusion reactor. How hard can it be? The great part is that all my neighbors will be angry and move out, so I can break as many windows as desired. Perhaps I'll use a spare XPR-1 to power my newly-installed electric fence. Hey, ya gotta protect what you've got!

I doubt you will see too many sets of 7 of these in a HT setup. Oh, just you wait until I win the lottery! I'm gonna be one of those few with 7 of these bad boys powering my HT. I've already contracted with the utility company to build a substation in my back yard. ;D P.S. Big Dan told me that if I buy 7 XPR-1s, that I can get each one signed by Lonnie, plus a weekend getaway to Emotiva Land all expenses paid. And better yet, the Emotiva crew will thrown in an RMC-1 for free. I wonder what kind of deal I can get if I replace all my XPA-1’s: 7 in the front rack, 8 in the rear rack.

I do wonder if something has changed since July. I thought all of the XPR amps were going to have the same transformer @ 3.3kW. The XPR-1 & 2 are a little further behind the XPR-5, even though they were expected a little sooner in the year ("close behind the XPR-5"). And on one of the podcasts, I remember Lonnie saying that the XPR-1 tested at 1kW into 8 ohms and "over 2kW" into 4. Now, with the rumored specs to be a 2.5kW transformer AND the XPR-1 testing at 1.2kW into 8 and 1.9kW into 4...it sounds like maybe to hit a price point they reduced the size of the transformer on the final production model (and hence the slightly longer wait for the XPR-1 and 2). Way more than enough power to be sure, but I'd be willing to bet this is what happened... I really wish they'd get them up on the site.

I'm pretty sure that the transformer size hasn't changed as far as anyone has known the actual sizes. I was under the impression that they were the same for a long time - but that was just my faulty assumption. I imagine that it can still do 2kw into 4, it's just a matter of what the distortion is at that wattage. I would suspect that the specs should be up sometime in the next week or two...... being mid December!

Jim, you picking up 2 or 3 XPR-1? Or you standing pat with the XPR-5 for now?

Are the XPR-1 and XPR-2 amps going to require 20-amp circuits? I don't believe that's been firmly answered yet. We'll know for a fact when the specs are up.

Jim, you picking up 2 or 3 XPR-1? Or you standing pat with the XPR-5 for now? I'm saving up for a second XPR-5 - to go fully active on all 7 channels... Despite how much fun the XPR-1s look! I imagine if the XPR-5 provides seemingly endless power, the XPR-1 and 2 won't be too shabby!

I'm very much looking forward to an XPR-2, probably at the same time the XMC-1 debuts.

Now that would be killer!!! I have yet to hear the ribbon tweeters....... I'm missing out! I've proclaimed to the wife that we're going to Emofest next year.

Tonight I gotta do some measuring of my old audio rack. Gonna see if the XPR-1s will fit. I think this will be a temp solution. I'm still trying to figure out how to get these amps AND the Revel F208 center channel to fit in some sort of cabinet...but that might just be a losing proposition.
***Tapping fingers, waiting for the XPR-1 to get up on the Emo site.*** Is there a chance with a smaller transformer, that the XPR-1 isnt quite as deep as the XPR-5 I have?

Since many of the models within the same series share cabinets, I'd be surprised if it's any different in size. We shall see.... I feel like we're due for another podcast too...

XPR-1, XPR-2 are same chassis size as XPR-5: 17" wide x 9.5" high x 19.5" deep
And 20A plug.
