At the risk of sounding like an idiot I still am not sure I understand all the separate controls for subs? Isn't bass just bass? I understand the crossover and volume but not much else. Right now I have a paradigm 10" that was around $400, what would I gain by going with something else?

The biggest news for these subs is their ability to be calibrated to the room. This should make a huge (positive) difference in the sound quality...

Subwoofers tend to be very difficult to properly integrate with the rest of the speakers in your HT set up. Emotiva is making it easier to do that with all the detailed GUI settings and the ability to Auto-calibrate its sub. Thus, you gain the ability to easily integrate the subwoofer to any room... for more realistic sounding low-end.

I wonder if the computer interface will support the Mac? Don't have any legacy PCs around here, and don't wish to delay microsoft's demise by purchasing windoze for my machines. This will be more of a big deal if we can't upgrade the UMC-1/XMC-1 firmware via Macs. I'm hoping that the firmware update will just be a file that can be transferred to a USB thumb drive and recognized by the pre/pro, or that the pre/pro will use the USB universal protocols to appear on the desktop.

I`m bringing this up again , now that I see the 8.3 is up for ordering I was hoping that the 112 sub is not far behind , would it be to much to ask if you have a ballpark time frame on this I`m just dying to get one

I wonder if the price increases on the regular speakers will also affect the subs?

I'm also waiting on this sub, and I have a friend who is also in the market. If they come out soon they might get a two-fer!!
This is exactly the kind of sub control that is so important for a good theater experience.

"I really think your guys are going to love these. To the best of my knowledge no one has ever done anything like this before so it should be pretty revolutionary (I wonder how long it will take for other companies to come out with something similiar). "
I totally agree....Emo should sell this as a stand alone subwoofer EQ system. You would be first to the market with such a device and would sell a ton of these to people who already own subs and the DIY crowd.
Where's the preorder list for the Emo-SubQ? I want to be first on the list.
