Scored a new pair (new for me) N804 in black today from a local source who still has another pair for sale and the matching HTM1. I know I should get it but I am hoping my LCR 600 will match sound wise well enough to make me happy. I will move my 603 s3 to rear duty and leave my current surround disconnected for a brief time. Need two more channels of amplification, how about an XPA-2 someday down the road?

Nice, I've always liked the 804s. They would probably be my box speaker choice.

Congratulations. I had a pair for some 7 years and when I upgraded to the 802 was pleased at how well they hold their value if taken care of. Let us know how you like them.

They come with Carpet spikes. If you want the pads for hard floor I have some very nice ones from Sound Care that are self-leveling and fit the 6mm thread for that series. The graphic is linked to Sound Care website.

Are you trying to sell them or just offering the information from the site. I did check it out but not sure what the thread size is and the site is not very interactive.

I also kept the LCR 600 as my center when I upgraded to the N802's. The LCR 600 did not blend very well with the 800 series speakers. It sounded so bad that I actually removed the center from my system while I searched for a used HtM1. There kinda rare. So if you have a chance to buy one local, and not mess finding one used on the Internet. I would get it while you still can. The 800 series are in another league over the 600 series.
Enjoy the new speakers. I am sure they will sound amazing.

Well, he has one for sale but wants $1700 for it. I can swing it just not sure I want to at this time. I'll get the 804's and try them and if I don't like them I will see if I can get the HTM1. That's a lot of center channel but it is a matching center. He also has the surrounds that match, not going there. Thanks for the opinion and I'm sure I'll feel the same way, mainly from the looks and then the sound (i'm sure the FST mid is going to make a huge difference).

Dang, that was lucky! You will probably be enjoying stereo music so much that you wont even use the center for a while. I think I paid around 1700 for the HTM1, its basically a 804 on its side, and from what I have read, a much better center than the smaller HTM2 (non diamond) center.
I bet you in a months time you will have stopped using the LCR 600 center all together, not that it is a terrible center, it just doesn't sound as good as your 804's will in "'phantom" mode
Enjoy.

I will certainly give that a go. Thanks for the suggestion. Having researched the HTM1 I had assumed it was meant to match the big boys, 803, 802, 801 and the 800 if they made one in the S line. After looking at what was available on B & W's site the HTM1 is the only center in the 800 line that matches all of them where the HTM2 is a 805 on it's side. I will keep looking for one and may eventually find one that I can purchase. I feel the 804's are the right size for my listening environment but 802's would be a dream speaker. There was a pair for sale in Nashville for $7800 on audiogon but that's a real leap in cost and size. Not sure how they would ever get in my house, or fit in my house.

First impression. Is this what I was missing with my 600's? Open, airy, very defined treble. Listening to stereo only, I am so surprised how good they really sound. Now for the down side. They are used, they have some marks on the cabinets and worse of all one tweeter is dimpled. I know, it should not make a huge difference in sound but it does make an appearance issue. Guess I will be researching how to fix that. Now for some assistance. I did research and I have set the midrange screw on the back of the cabinet to finger tight. One is correct, if this is correct, the other seems to still be tight and I hate to over loosten it. Can anyone owning B & W provide guidance? It also turned out the seller did have an HTM1 and sold it to someone in Nashville. I should have bought it, the 600's sound nothing like these. Nothing!

Now that you had the 804's for a few days, have your initial impressions changed? I know exactly what you mean about the defined treble. The old 600's cant hold a candle to the 800 series... Did you get your driver issue sorted out? New tweeter? There pretty easy to replace, not cheap, but easy.
I am also sorry to hear you didn't find the 804 and 600 center a good mix. I see an HTM1 in your future.
Enjoy!

Not getting a lot of listening in as of yet with work and other activities. I also see a new center down the road even though I can get by with what I have. I do need to replace at least one if not both tweeters. One due to dimple, the other so that it is on the same lever as the other since one would be new and the other would not. Have you done the replacement? I know they are expensive but not as expensive as purchasing a new set of speakers with the current diamond driver, so I save in the long run.

I have used few tricks over the years to remove tweeter dimples, blutack is the first port of call. Apply gently so as not to make the dimple worse. If it's not quite enough pull I just use more blutack. Next up is duct tape, trickier to apply as it needs to follow the indentation, so slow and steady on the application. If that doesn't work, a suction cup of the right size is the next step. If it's real stubburn a vacuum cleaner is top of my list, with a piece of plastic tube that fits into the centre of the dimple. Preferably a variable suction vacuum cleaner, starting off on the lowest setting. I've not had to do it myself, but I have seen guys have success using a pin with a right angle in the end. It leaves a tiny hole, which can be sealed with supeglue if absolutely necessary. When all else fails, apply the dust cover and forget about it. Cheers Gary

Sgtjim, do u mind my Inquiring the price you paid? There is a set available locally that I am looking at,... Also, you can remove the tweeter diaphragm. You can purchase brand new diaphragm thro B&W parts, or you can push out the dimples from behind. B&W does a great job with the pre-engineered repairs. The B&W parts center is local to me here in Mass. North Reading to be exact.

I had the same problem with my emo ERT 8.3 I picked up from the warehouse sale two woofers were dimpled. I used a vacuum it worked with no problem I had to put it against the cone they were that stubborn, you cant tell they were ever dimpled
