So...before XRef came out and ERT went away, we heard rumors of a line of speakers that would be a step up or equivalent to the ERT series.
Where is it?
I held off on my preorder of the last batch of ERT 8.3's because money was tight and now I'm kicking myself.
Any information out there? Want a pair for a stereo setup in the study.
Thanks

That's what subwoofers are for. I had two subs in my system, but enjoyed the "cleaner sound" of the 8.3s without the subs. Most of this can be attributed to the room, which I've done a lot of treatment to. Sounding much better now . My in-room response with the ERTs without a sub is very good. I've had to make sure the subs were off when I first set them up because I kept getting very low frequency response. I thought one might be on because of the low bass I was hearing. I measured them in-room and was surprised - they play down to 35hz -6db. Emo specs them at 45hz +/- 3db. My in-room low frequency 'hump' from the tests I've run with a couple of subs is 50-80hz. I get +6db right at 60hz so the lows the ERTs hit isn't from the room interactions. As much as I swap gear in and out I don't have any desire to swap out the speakers. I think they are keepers.

I had a similar experience , the sub volume was waaaay low.

No offense intended, but I would be interested if you had the 8.3's set to small. If not no wonder you weren't that happy. I would have set the 8.3's to about 60-70Hz HP and the sub at 60-70 LP. It is possible that the Emo 12's weren't able to keep up with the high output of the 8.3's with lots of power but I doubt that. I can see a problem if they were for movies as they don't go that low. However, for music the 12's should have been very nice if set up correctly (no full range on the 8.3's).

I never used a receiver with the subs, at the time I had the USP-1. Solely for 2 Chanel listening . The x-over was setting was varied. Settled close to those figures.
It never sounded terrible, just that I preferred the sound without the subs. Especially after doing treatment to the room, it (the room) played better.

Thanks Perhaps it's a good idea to wait until this summer, Emotiva supposed to launch the next reference series speakers with the ribbon's tweeters used in the pro series...? I actually own the last reference series; ERT-8.3 and I really love them. I am very impatient to see the next one.

Are they going to come up with another speaker along the lines of the ert 8.3? I missed the boat on these and would like something similiar...

I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar series to the current Reference Series except with showcasing a folded ribbon tweeter in several bookshelf models, one or two towers and at least one center speaker not to mention a surround model.
We might see an angled cabinet and perhaps a new finish although I love the current satin black lacquer finish. Some tone controls on the back as before would be nice. Sealed or ported will be my big curiosity (perhaps both).
Those waiting should seriously jump on any of the old Reference models for sale at a great bargain!

And as a result, I have emosean's 2- Ultra 12's in my all Emotiva/Maggie 3.6R system. Seems to be a good match! By the way, I heard Emosean's 8.3's without the Ultra 12's and they were pounding out the bass very impressively!
