This is one of my favorite Gatemouth Brown songs. While not quite as awesome as the original, this is still pretty badass. Gatemouth was 82 when this was recorded, I believe. That's some pretty phenomenal singing, guitar and fiddle playing for an 82 year old:

I am not much into metal genre. I just listened last night Therion's Ghotic Kabbalah. Even a masterpiece is an understatement. A perfect concept. The music, the philosophy, the execution. Out of this world.

A few of my favorite covers I enjoy more than the original. As you may be able to tell, I enjoy a cappella music. Kashmir (a cappella style) There is a better version of this on youtube of their album. But it's cool to see it done live with just voices. Hallelujah - Savannah Outen (Jeff Buckley/Leonard Cohen) Gabe Bondoc - Man in the Mirror Amy Whitcomb & Jake Justice - Love on Top - Beyonce (Cover) 5 voices, a cello and a violin... Pentatonix - Dog Days are Over Trio Sings Telephone by Lady Gaga in Concert

That's some pretty phenomenal singing, guitar and fiddle playing for an 82 year old: I saw Clarence Gatemouth Brown in Spokane in the mid 70's at a local funky blues/hippie/country rock bar, can't remember the name of the place (it was not I like it like that), but he was amazing on several instruments. Great show!

@chuckienut - I think you'll enjoy this one. Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen - Dr. John, featuring Ledisi and The McCrary Sisters How did you know I was going to love that? I did! Great version! Way back in my memory, that was an old Negro Spiritual, great American music! I'm sure it was on my brother's Mahalia Jackson album from many years ago. I love the black gospel/negro spiritual genre of music. It has been very influential on more modern forms of blues, rock, R&B, etc. Maybe you might like this from the movie " Say Amen Somebody" www.rottentomatoes.com/m/say_amen_somebody

This movie looks amazing. The trailer made my wife stop what she was doing and said, "Huh..." (that's a good thing). I wonder where I can get my hands on it... I recently saw 20 Feet from Stardom. If you haven't seen it, it's a documentary about backup singers, and their importance to the music we love. One of the things it touches upon is the importance of churches and gospel music for backup singers. It's a stellar documentary if you haven't seen it, and it's streaming on Netflix. I liked it so much, I ordered the blu ray and a CD by one of the featured artists the day after streaming it on Netflix. With that in mind, here's a very interesting and cool cover of Southern Man by Merry Clayton (who was featured in 20 Feet from Stardom): And here she is performing another very cool and interesting cover, this time Gimme Shelter: She did backup vocals on both of these tracks originally.
