If you buy a pt-7030 at this reduced price and receive the upgrade card are you also enrolled in the upgrade for life program ? Nope, it's the 40% card you get and not the 25% lifetime upgrade but that being said if you use the card for say a UMC-200 or XMC-1 then you would be enrolled in the 25% upgrade program From the Upgrade page : Will Generation 2 Upgrade Certificate holders be enrolled in the Upgrade For Life Program? Yes! If you are the current holder of a Generation 2 upgrade certificate, you are automatically enrolled in the Upgrade for Life program 30 days after you have purchased your next generation processor at 40% off.

The decoder (any decoder these days) is basically a program running in a computer. It is very unlikely that it is "flawed" or "defective" in the sense of requiring repair. From the description, it sounds like the pop is occurring at a point where there is some strong low frequency content. This leads me to suspect that it is nothing more than a momentary clip of the audio signal. It could be a momentary clip occurring in the pre/pro itself because of some fluke combination of EQ and gain settings. It could also be happening in some downstream component for the same reason - because of a short but especially intense signal at some particular frequency (of course the output will be different with TruHD than with DD; that is the whole point of using TruHD, right?) Unless you notice this happening with other titles, I really wouldn't worry about it. ) Actually it is not much low frequency content at moment of the pop, maybe half a second later comes a intense scene. I haven´t touched the EQ yet, Haven´t bought myself tools te measure/analyse the room. I think it´s wired that Sensei for example doesn´t have the same problem?

So tonight I took it upon myself to try out the 7.1 analog input of the PT-7030 with 6 Emotiva RCA cables connected to the 7.1 analog out of my Oppo 103. I decided that the first Blu-ray disc I should try out is my Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds Live At Radio City, all I have to say is why didn't I try this sooner as it sounded so wonderful, the acoustic guitars were jumping out of the speakers with crispness and sharpness I haven't heard till now, I couldn't have the volume overly loud so can't wait to have the house to myself to crank it up nicely.
I have to suggest that all 7030 owners with a good source like an Oppo or such to give this a try, I know this would defeat any room correction that you may have setup but I very much suggest giving this a try to see what you think, like I have mentioned before I am in love with the analog section in this pre/pro and found audio bliss tonight.

This afternoon I listened to assorted SACD's played on my Oppo 83 connected via HDMI to the Sherbourn 7030. 5.1, no EQ engaged (although the subs have their PEQ's set). I was very, very pleased. The SACD's:
Dave Brubeck "Time Out" Steely Dan "Gaucho" Elton John "Tumbleweed Connection" Carole King "Tapestry" Hiromi Uehara "Another Mind"
They all sounded great, especially considering how old some of the recordings were, and in particular "Another Mind" was fantastic. So far I'm really happy with the 7030.. and even more so now with the upgrade card and emobucks bonus.

Just wondering if this Sherbourn would be an upgrade on my rotel rsp-1068? Also is it dual voltage or will I need a transformer for use with our 240v in Australia?

I would think so rolling 01 ; your 1068 doesn't have lossless decoding and more important the pt7030 has full parametric eq for your room and other more up to date features Yes just an ordinary iec plug and flick the back panel switch to 230v . The pt7030 can be bought for about $4500aus down here ;nuff said I would just buy another 7.1 truehd disc jonas and see if it's repeatable ; I think its just a badly authored disc or a one off glitch as Keith said. Plenty here to choose ; forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=159814

Try Mission Impossible- Ghost Protocol in True HD. There are a couple of scenes in there that will test any system's capabilities. But be careful - your main speakers as well as your sub will be tested. The scene early in the film in the prison when the device to shatter the floor is set off - and when the explosion blows up under Tom Cruise feet as he runs from the building.

Edit. seems im having trouble with the order page, wont let me select any country besides the US.

"Rolling01au", I'd send an e-mail to sales or customer service, links can be found below, or just wait until Monday since it's the weekend here in the states and give them a call! They'll get you hooked up. www.emotiva.com/contact/

Edit: my apologies I was sure it was a Saturday that I got a response from nick one time. I know for sure he got back to me around 730 pm Calgary time on a Friday when I bought my xpr.

International orders need to be placed by phone, being in Canada I can order through the website if I use a shipping company on the U.S. side of the border and then drive over the border to pick up the items. I still like to phone in my orders as when they are selling items to international customers they check them to make sure they are working and functioning properly. You are able to email them a quote but I just prefer calling, but they are only open Monday to Friday.

Is there any way to cycle through audio output options on the 7030 like on the umc-1 or is it just an auto select function ? Has anyone tried pairing this with an Xda-2 or would it be sort of redundant and unnecessary ?

Cheers guys, will wait till Monday and call. Depending on your o'seas ph rates ; I just emailed the whole transaction with paypal rolling 01 ;very smooth emotiva.com/faq/international_ordersAuto select for the decoders the pt7030 has installed like most avrs/pre pro's . Additional ability to cycle through the dsp modes that are applicable to the codec . For example 2ch pcm ;neo6;pl2x;5chstereo;7chstereo - dd5.1 ;ddex;dd+xs;dd+pl2x music etc or cinema - dtshdma7.1 ; downmix only . You get the idea ; one direct 2ch button and a surround + button that you use with the navigation buttons to cycle A nice touch is the dynamic range can be altered using the same surround button . You can also setup default dsp modes for each input

Has anyone tried pairing this with an Xda-2 or would it be sort of redundant and unnecessary ? From the Manual page 5 And when it comes to improving the sound: It sounds phenomenal. The sound quality of the 7030 on its own, in my opinion and experience, is similar if not still just a touch better with certain material than pairing a UMC-200 up with an XDA-2 DAC, only you can enjoy that level of two-channel playback performance in multi-channel. The 7030's sound is extremely refined, balanced and above all neutral, with excellent texture and detail throughout. To some people adding a Stealth DC-1 would probably improve some two channel sources. Some people can't hear a difference between the XDA-2 and DC-1, so probably not between the PT-7030 and the external DACs either. So whether or not you could tell a difference would be an experiment. Yes, the PT-7030 is that good.

If you go to the Input settings menu you can select a few different modes but I think only for analog inputs, like 5 channel or 7 channel stereo, otherwise digital inputs are 2 channel or PLX movie or music. also analog inputs can cycle through stereo or bypass when pressing the 2ch button on the remote, so no it's not the same aas the UMC-1 in that respect. Does anyone know why there is no direct mode for digital inputs like the UMC-1 has ?? Chad
