Since we are into the 8th day, can we get some sort of status update with regards to the v.14 firmware? An ETA possibly? I know it's not the only thing on your plate Keith, but at least keep us in the loop please.

I know this product was heavily discounted.... but I did not expect to receive a processor with crippled DTSHD and no tech support. At least an acknowledgement or update would be something.

FWIW, I sent an email to "The Man" regarding this firmware update. He's probably insanely busy but I don't know what else to do. Shoulda bought the corvette instead of the chevette...silly me.

Very unfortunate, I would have expected some sort of response by now., even if it was just to let you know they are working on it.

Yeah, me too. Not impressed with the communication, rather lack of, so far.

I'm hanging around too, waiting for word - for myself and a couple of friends who purchased it as well but don't hang out here.

I'm sure there are others who have no idea there is an issue. Unless you test each channel discretely, it's hard to tell what's wrong...but for me it didn't sound right. I don't know what else I can do. It's up to Dan to press for the release. Lord knows no one else seems to care to officially comment.

Just a thought...CEDIA expo in Colorado is on now (25-28). Wonder if Dan is attending?

I really don't get it. A user with a Sr-120 was provided firmware to diagnose an hdmi board issue and has fixed his unit. Remember, the sr-120 and the pt-7020 are essentially the same unit. Save for the amplification of course. Anyhow the firmware is readily available yet the update code needs verification? Something is going on here...Keith is MIA on this issue and we are stuck. Dan specifically said "sherbourn units will ship with the latest firmware". Granted there was an update while some units were already in the warehouse. Why can't we just get the update already? Seriously...it's been 2 weeks and not a peep from anyone at Emotiva. Everything I read previous to my purchase was that their customer service was first rate.

Maybe upgrading the firmware isn't as easy as you think it is. Just look at the old UMC firmware update threads. Unless you want to then be posting on how hard the update is and that you can't get the files on, the unit bricked, etc.

I have to wonder how many others bought (or are still buying) the 7020 that have firmware .11 installed, have it set up for only 5.1 systems, and don't realize they are getting their surrounds in mono?

Sr-120 was updated just fine by another user...same chips same internals. Update code surely is exactly the same. Even so, why no status update or a "we underestimated the timeframe". No one official has said one word about it. Even pm'd Keith...no response. Nothing worse than being ignored.

Especially those who bought one at the recent secret sale. Surely they must have v.11 wouldn't you think.

I will give it another week. You have 90 days to dispute a credit card charge. You must call them up and ask for a refund because product was not as described. If they refuse then call the credit card company. I really like this unit and want it to work. It sounds superb in all modes except for DTSHD-MA. Since at least 90% of Blu-ray audio tracks are in this format, It is VERY important it works properly in 5.1. I was even considering buying the PT-7030 if they supplied the .14 firmware and it did not correct the problem. But since there is zero communication now, I will not send any more money that way.

Gentle folk,
the code has been vetted and from a machine level state we can and have been importing it. But during a compile for mass release the code was corrupted and we have been working to figure out why. We will be releasing the code very soon and when it is, I want it to be right.

Thanks for the info Lonnie. We want it to be right also. Bosshogg, you can turn on the rear speakers (even if you don't have any) and you should get stereo surrounds on DTS-HDM 5.1 material. It's the 7.1 material where you may lose the back info if it doesn't matrix into the surrounds correctly because of the issue.
