I kept forgetting to order my three (non-super) deluxe vinyl editions. Thankfully this thread reminded me. TO anyone that hasn't ordered copies yet, I would strongly recommend checking out Barnes & Noble - bn.com They are running a buy two get the third (the cheapest) for free promo on dvds, blurays and CDs with no promo code to enter. I bought the vinyl but it still applied the promo to my order! I basically got II or III for free! Also qualified for free shipping, just had to pay local tax. I am quite happy t the moment. I cannot wait to get these bad boys spinning!

Well, that answers that. It has been questioned whether the only way to get the hi-rez files was if you bought the super deluxe sets. Now that they are up on HDtracks (both as deluxe and regular), it appears hi-res will be available all by itself. My only advice right now for you is to just be patient. If they are up on HDtracks the first day that probably means you'll be able to get it at some point, probably sooner rather than later.

So far I gave Led Zeppelin I and I'm not impressed. Yes it's better, but far from good quality in my opinion. I know they didn't have that great a selection to work from, but I feel like the guitar and drums could sound fuller. Or maybe my headphones are finally giving out. I'll give it a thorough listen tonight on my stereo.

What is a good price for the super deluxe sets? Pop market is selling them for $109.99.

The packaging is horrible for the deluxe cds. They use the cardboard slots in the digipak, and they are tight. You have to be careful you don't scuff the discs trying to dislodge them since they didn't include any protective covering for the discs. I will keep the discs in a slim case so I don't have to fight getting the discs in and out without damage. On LZ I the companion disc is raw, and sounds like a bootleg recording. It's decent and has it moments that hits you. I like it even though it has some drop outs. Some of the songs are in mono verses stereo. LZ II and LZ III the companion disc is better for LZ III. I like the alternate rough songs better. Both are cool to hear but these alternates and rough takes is not that much different than the originals. I was expecting a very different recording for them. I'm kind of disappointed about it.
As for the main discs they are slightly bright, and a little bit compressed. The treble is EQ'ed a little higher in the mix, and the drums are mixed a little lower for I and II. LZ III has the drums is mixed a little better. The new remasters sound pretty good but nothing to get worked up over. I would say they are a little better than the 90s Marino but the 80s Diament is still the champ in SQ to me. While the clarity is not as crisp the warmth of the recording is present which is not present on the new remasters. The new remasters are not mastered loud which is a plus. It is a little louder than the Diament but a little softer than the Marino. It is similar to the Marino but with better clarity, and EQ'ed a little bit different. It is clear and crisp especially with the cymbals. Overall I'm satisfied with the remasters but I mainly picked these up for the companion discs. The Diaments still remain for being played on the home system only, and the new remasters will replace the Marinos for the car, work, and outside listening.

Hopping for some reviews on the hi Rez tracks. Thought there would be some out there by now on Steve Hoffman or some other forums.

I've seen a few complaints of warped lps. How is your vinyl condition? ...so far so good! I just finished listening to II and the vinyl is flat and quiet and I'm quite impressed with the sound quality. There is more depth and dynamics to the music and Bonham's drums, cymbals and triangles have never sounded so good (to me anyways). There is also a bit better sense of place. I'm comparing to an old 70s standard US pressing. Kudos to Mr. Page - well done!! I may have to check out the hi-rez downloads - they might just be worth it as well.

Amazon has dropped the ball. None of my order has shipped yet. According to the details, it will actually be shipped from 4 different places. 3 of the 4 say "preparing for shipment," and the last says "not yet shipped." My estimated delivery is June 9 to June 13. Basically, anytime next week. I guess we'll see. Amazon usually does better. This sucks.
What also sucks is that I'd be willing to bet that I was one of the first people to pre-order the super deluxe sets (did it immediately that morning they were up on Amazon), but since they also shipped to stores and other people paid extra to have theirs shipped for delivery day of, I may be sh*t out of luck getting one's out of the first 30,000 that will be specifically numbered. I guess we'll see. Not going to loose any sleep over it just annoying to me.
But oh boy, Amazon did "turn on" the albums onto the Amazon Cloud player, so I can at least listen to them in crappy 128 MP3 sound. Nice.
