Jerry CantrellJerry Cantrell holds the distinction of being the guitarist of Alice In Chains—one of the bands that defined Seattle grunge, even appearing in the classic '90s film Singles. Cantrell’s borderline heavy metal riffs and songwriting helped Alice in Chains albums like Facelift and Dirt to reach multi-platinum heights. Outside of the band, Cantrell has also established himself as a solo artist, releasing the albums Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip, and made appearances on albums by Danzig and Metallica. Alice in Chains reformed in 2005, returning Cantrell to his band culture roots.
William DuvallWilliam DuVall is the current vocalist and co-guitarist of Alice in Chains, having joined the band in 2006. He appears on the albums Black Gives Way to Blue (2009) and The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013). DuVall will be performing with Alice in Chains bandmate Jerry Cantrell.
Jeff FielderJeff Fielder is one of Seattle's most accomplished and sought-after guitarists. On a global level, Fielder has spent the last six years playing for the legendary Mark Lanegan and also has worked with Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls as a multi-instrumentalist and producer. In the city of Seattle he has kept up quite a pace over the years, making music with the likes of Stone Gossard, Shawn Smith, and other Seattle luminaries. Along with being a founding member of Sera Cahoone's band in 2006, Fielder has been involved with countless other projects with Seattle's finest musicians and songwriters, and is also an engaging solo performer in his own right. Expect great and interesting music in the coming years from this exceptional musician.
John HoggJohn Hogg is a multi-talented musician, singer and songwriter. He formed the critically acclaimed band Moke in 1998 with whom he recorded two albums; toured the US supporting The Black Crowes, The Goo Goo Dolls, Tonic, King's X; and reached number 17 in The Billboard Rock Chart with the single “My Degeneration” before Moke disbanded. After receiving a phone call from Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes, he went on to become lead singer of Robinson’s new band Hookah Brown. Then, in 2006, John joined forces with bassist Jesse Wood and drummer Martin Wright (The Ronnie Wood Band, Mick Jagger, Slash and Natalie Imbruglia) to form HOGG, taking legendary London clubs by storm with their unique blend of hard-rocking, in-your-face psychedelic blues. John also writes and produces music with Kassini, and has recently formed the trio RedRacer whose debut album was released last year. Currently, he is writing and recording the new Pyramid Ship EP, bringing back the rock, blues, and indie sound of his past in a new soulful way.
Rick NielsenOne of rock’s most colorful musicians is Cheap Trick’s guitarist Rick Nielsen. With his unending army of guitars–his most famous being a mammoth five-neck instrument–Nielsen is a true original. A native of Illinois, Nielsen became hooked on rock ‘n’ roll via the British Invasion, taking up guitar shortly thereafter. Besides his Cheap Trick duties, Nielsen and his extensive collection of guitars were the subject of a book entitled Guitars of the Stars, which showcased 200 from his collection (he has one of the largest collections of vintage guitars in the US).
In 2012-2013, the Burpee Museum of Natural History in Nielsen’s hometown of Rockford, Illinois hosted an exhibit entitled Rick’s Picks: A Lifelong Affair with Guitars and Music, which was attended by thousands of fans from around the world, as well as being featured on an episode of American Pickers.
During their four-decade career, Cheap Trick has performed more than 5,000 concerts and recorded 16 studio albums, seven live albums, and over 13 compilations. Rick and Cheap Trick have received over 50 Gold and Platinum Recording Awards over their extensive career. They have also just completed recording in Los Angeles and Nashville for a new album to be released in 2016.
Rich RobinsonRich Robinson—best known as the guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder of The Black Crowes—has evolved as an accomplished solo artist, songwriter, and vocalist with his third solo album released in 2014. Born in 1969, Rich formed The Black Crowes with his older brother Chris in Atlanta in the 1980’s. At the age of 17, Robinson began writing the music for the songs that would land on the band’s 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, which sold seven million copies. Over the next 10 years, Rich’s songwriting evolved into the musical engine that powered the band to sales of more than 25 million albums. Before taking a hiatus in 2001, the Crowes catalog included classics like The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, Amorica, By Your Side, and Live at the Greek: Excess All Areas, a double album that captured the teaming of Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes for performances of Led Zeppelin, Crowes and blues and rock standards.
In 2004 Rich began his solo journey with the release of his first album, Paper, an extension of Rich’s musicianship as a Black Crowe showcasing his stellar and under-rated guitar playing and, for the first time, the role of lyricist and lead vocalist. His second solo album, Crooked Sun, was released seven years later—as the Crowes reunited in 2005 and actively recorded and tours until another hiatus in 2010—and featured Joe Magistro, Steve Molitz and guest performances by Warren Haynes, Larry Campbell, Karl Berger, John Lindberg, and John Medeski. A worldwide Black Crowes tour kept Robinson busy in 2013, but he found the time to return to Woodstock to record his third solo album, The Ceaseless Sight, finding Robinson stepping solidly into his own as a solo artist as he adds confident vocalist and lyricist to his accomplished musical resume.
