I looked the Carver up80-100 mv is suggested for best sound. Yeah, but that's just Bob's personal preference for HIS sound. He told my brother over the phone just two days ago that the amps could be biased anywhere on the pot. That equates to 50mV to 250mV These amps are bullet proof.

The 60mv I quoted is for each KT 120 over a 10 ohm resistor for 60 ma. The 500mV I quoted for the Jolidas are per tube. The Carvers are for the sextet. Mine came from Bob at 100mV. They sound so good I haven't bothered playing with them other than the variable feedback switch.

How would you compare the carver to the jolida?
I know, not exactly fair....

How would you compare the carver to the jolida? I know, not exactly fair.... More punch, clarity, control. And much more tube sound. You and I kind of talked about this. The Jolidas had about 5db feedback. Your M-125's have 10db. The Carvers have a variable switch allowing for either 11db or 20 db. It's my opinion that the feedback in a tube amp has much more impact on the sound than any tube rolling or bias adjustment will ever bring. At 5 db feedback, the Jolidas were the least tubey, most solid state sounding tube amps I've ever heard. In some instances this was great, but in most I desired a bit more warmth. The 11db setting is close to perfect for me. On some soft music (vocals/acoustic instruments) the 20db is preferable, but mine stay at 11db most of the time. It was this feature that made me quit waiting for Emotiva and buy the Carver's. I was told by Lonnie that "as it stands now" the Emotivas will have a fixed feedback of 20db. A bit too high in my opinion. Perfect for others maybe, but I wanted the option. I've never heard Latino's M-125s but from the specs I feel certain I have a good idea what they sound like. I believe they'd fall somewhere between my Jolidas and Carvers, but leaning significantly to the sound of the Carvers due to the feedback design. Therefore, just about perfect IMO. Peace

I thought that it was already stated that Emotiva was working on monoblock tube amps in the 200W - 300W range? I would swear that I read that on a thread, maybe even this one. Are you assuming? I reported info on the tube gear back in August from Emo LA, in this thread emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/667595/threadThe basics discussed then were 300W Monoblocks with the Emotiva look and chassis. I believe the target price was less than $2000, (6) KT-120's per MB was mentioned.

Peace I do see he's selling the 350s for the price of the 200s through the 25th, a great deal for someone,.......

Good deal. With bias, there are all sorts of measurements, some for all tubes together, some for pairs and some for individual tubes. The 60mv I quoted is for each KT 120 over a 10 ohm resistor for 60 ma. YMMV! I turned my bias down to sixty and it is just a beautyfull buttery sweet sound!

A trade off, really - hotter bias reaches further into class A, but shortens tube life and decreases headroom.
With your guarantee, maybe pays to experiment!!
Looking into the design of the Carvers, some unconventional thinking, but that's Bob!
I'd love to hear them. I can't imagine better sound than I have, but life's for learning.

I hope you realize that life....at 100mv bias, I have my doubts, unless you only run them 15 minutes per day. LOL. Well if they don't make it, Carver will send me a complete set. And 100 millivolts isn't high. My Jolidas biased at 500 millivolts and had a seven year life expectancy. You do know Bob will need to still be alive to honor that, right?

Probably a couple dozen more great amp designs also.

I know he has got many more designs floating about in his head, but I also know the is into his 70's now, so unless he puts that Doctorate in Physics to good use and invents a time machine...
