I thought given the direction things have taken recently, that perhaps we should start a discussion about what an Emotiva Tube amp should be. It is quite easy to get big power out of a tube amp, so that obviously would be at or near the top of my list. Also, some good, old fashioned VU meters, backlit with a soft warm amber glow would be nice as well. Auto-biasing, and some form of trim adjustment for gain matching as well.
Being an all-new direction for Emotiva, I would also love to see some true "cutting edge" design work go into the chassis design, making these amps the definitive statement from Emotiva as to where they see themselves in the world of audiophilia. I don't really care too much on the price, as I know that they will be eminently affordable, given the huge prices some tube gear commands. I really love the look of the Ayon gear, and Conrad Johnson's upper end stuff.
Maybe a designers sketch or two would be nice...

I'd really like to SEE, the warm glow of the beautiful tubes lighting my room in a nice amber color.
Peace,
Nick

..the VU meters must surely have blue backlighting (to match the rest of the Emo gear)! And the tubes must also exude a hypnotic blue hue!

While I do agree the blue looks cool, it seems to me that Mcintosh has that market covered. There must be a way of standing apart from the crowd and redefining it at the same time.. That would be the look that I am after.

I would like they have the same our better build quality and sonic that BOB CARVER, and a outstanding design like my SONUS FABER VENERE. Here's my dream: Stainless steel chassis, cases in acrylic, led's in blue and the "OLD" KT120, WOW. - Please, maintain the prices!

I''d love to see at least 75W per ch... Preferably using Kt120 tubes, some kind of auto bias. If they had the ability to use multiple tube types like the Prima Luna it would also be nice although from what I have seen the kt120 probably meet my sonic needs.

I would like to see a tube product line that mimics the Carver line only made better and more affordable. In other words a low cost high quality medium power stereo unit and at least one set of high powered monoblocks using KT120 or the new KT150. I would stay away from SET types - they're a dime a dozen and are fodder for DIY types. Also must have a tube preamp - an affordable entry level one and a SOTA one that will make ARC and Einstein look like silly investments.

I'd like to see it shipping I will quote Judd and add "At a reasonable price point" A reasonable price point goes with out saying, it is Emotiva after all. Jeez, really? Same or better build quality as Carver, and "maintain the prices"? Well those Carver's were essentially hand made amps, made in America, with point to point wiring. The prices that were seen at the end of the Emo/Carver marriage would be the BOTTOM LINE for equipment of that caliber. Those prices really don't fit in with the Emotiva market placement. Does a stainless chassis or acrylic case sound like Emotiva to you? I''d love to see at least 75W per ch... Preferably using Kt120 tubes, 75 watts per channel is easy. With Emotiva known for high power/great prices, I'd like them to shoot a lot higher than that. My pair of Jolida 502P's running bridged provide 140 watts per channel. They cost about $2200 for the pair with KT120 tubes. With Emotiva's resources, I believe they could market similar amps with about 250 watts per channel for less than 2K pretty easy. Maybe significantly less that 2K. While auto bias is nice, and maybe essential for Emotiva's target market, it really isn't necessary. Biasing my two mono blocks takes about 8-10 minutes. It's only necessary every 6 to 12 months and a baby could do it. Biasing is something that non tube people worry about, and really shouldn't. If they had the ability to use multiple tube types like the Prima Luna it would also be nice although from what I have seen the kt120 probably meet my sonic needs. Most amps designed fot KT88 and 6550 tubes can take those tubes, plus KT90, KT120, KT150 tubes. The thing to keep in mind is the transformers need to be optimized for the bigger tubes in order to produce bigger wattage. But even without bigger transformers, you'll get the sonic signature of the bigger tube, and the tube will generally last longer. Agreed completely. Also must have a tube preamp - an affordable entry level one and a SOTA one that will make ARC and Einstein look like silly investments. I'm personally not too interested in this any longer. My XDA-2 feeding my tube mono's is wonderful! However, to cover the market, I agree this would be necessary. Peace

Maybe a 50/60 watt/channel tube integrated that anyone in the Emotiva family could afford. It could be a two channel alternative to buying a power amp and preamp. The ideal music only system even for the multi channel crowd. Then a upscale integrated tube amp for those who want the next level. Then a pair of tube mono block amps for those who won't compromise. I'll leave the amount of power, and the pricing to Emotiva.
There should be a tube preamp alternative for the XPA series amps, and a reference level tube preamp alternative for the XPR and/or tube monoblock amps as well.

I want one Stereo amp or dual mono amp option. Keep it simple. No need for a million different amps here!

A) 200 WPC multichannel hybrid with ECC88's driving solid state outputs. B) 100 WPC push-pull all valve hand-wired stereo with no ICs anywhere in the neighborhood. C) 20 watt mono SET sold only in pairs with matched 300B's. D) USB DAC with valve buffered output and 3W headphone amp E) And of course the statement piece, a 200-pound 500 watt mono on a solid-copper chassis with an array of at least 12 tubes and an integrated LED projector that throws a blue "E" on the wall behind the amp, and costing just under $50K per side.
