Makes sense to me. My XPR-5 arrived in perfect condition about 11 months ago now, so no delivery/damage issues here, but you're right to ensure that part of it for future buyers. Love my XPR-5!

Wouldn't by just removing the XPR line from the sale at this time accomplished the same thing from a fiscal standpoint while maintaining a good relationship with the customer base? Then the "final" price would have just gone through at the end of the sale/year.
End result is the same and no PR drama.
Just a thought.

Dan, you're first class. Continue to be pleasantly surprised as to the level of customer commitment you/company demonstrate. Kudos to you my friend.

Dan, you need to correct the ads on audioholics regarding the XPR-1 pricing.

While the price increase was not an issue for me, man I respect your taking the time to address the issue Dan. That is stand up behavior in my book. Outstanding!

While the new shipping method will ensure that the XPR amplifiers arrive at their destinations in one piece, shipping palletized freight is very costly. The cost to ship two or three of these could be pretty significant. Perhaps Emotiva could offer a "customer pick up price." This could save the customer some $ and wouldn't cost Emotiva anything.

Any way you slice it, it's just awkward and unprecedented to raise the MSRP in the middle of the sale. Certainly they can do whatever they want...no problems there, it's their company. I'm actually hoping for the competition to catch up...it's always best for consumers. Still a big emo fan as you can see by my signature, just a bit less so these days but I'll live.

Dan the man dear sir,
Have you considered reducing costs for those who pick up their purchases?
I speak for myself but suspect others agree; I prefer to pick up(will call) my purchases with you for the sole purpose of avoiding any shipping damage. You can bet I will handle it with care and I cringe at the thought of rough handling that results in reduced life (hypothetical: hairline crack that grows due to thermal cycling and shows itself only after the warranty is up).
FYI it's a three hour drive....a three hour(gilligan island ref) drive for me but it gives me peace of mind so worth it.
I will continue to buy your products regardless but the TN tax in addition to paying built in cost of shipping....well lets just say it gives one pause.
I know you can't please everyone but this one "to me" seems like a win win.

Picking your purchase up in Tennessee (10-OC) might save you on the shipping cost... but you'd have to pay Tennessee sales tax with your purchase (about 10%). So, you're not saving that much money, plus your time and gas to come and pick it up, literally YMMV.

I'm a 10-OC resident as well (about half an hour away from Franklin). To be clear, for all the pieces that I've picked up at Emotiva headquarters over the years, I have had to pay the same price as everyone else (even though the unit was not "shipped" to my address) and paid 10% sales tax on top of it. An option would be to have it sent to my sister's house (not in 10-OC) to save the sales tax. However, the 300 mile trip (one-way) costing between $70 and $100 dollars usually cost more than the tax on my purchase. That, and I have to wait rather than getting it within a day (when shipped) or same day (when picked up in-person).

Cheers Gary No. its a state tax imposed on people who live in TN, we even pay tax on food. (nonresidents may have to pay it if they pick their purchases up in TN, which is what the previous poster was saying).

Thanks, one more question, are the prices Emotiva quotes (on the web site) including "Tennessee Sale Tax" or is it added on? Cheers Gary

All good reasons but why is such information not given before acting? In my opinion both should be done in unison.
You should also add that because of the new way of shipping XPR-amps, you don´t ship them overseas anymore. Some guys over here in Germany sadly noticed this when they tried to order - in this case, the explanation given was the soon to open warehouse in the netherlands.
Since this warehouse doesn´t help anything with buyers in e.g. Australia - what happens here? No more XPR for them?

I want (in fact need) also XPR-1 Amps first 2x (later 4x more) and now i have no chance to get them becorse i live in Germany. This is discrimination. I'm a little bit disappointed from Emotiva. Maybe Emotiva RETHINK this international shipping policy. The reasons Emotiva told me: the size and weight makes it prohibitive simply too many complaints from international customers from shipping damages customers who are hyper critical of the product If there is any minor issue it is too expensive to resolve the issue Customers with distorted AC power are blaming the amplifier if there is even some slight offset of noise occurring in the amplifier, whether from the transformer or the outputs, there is no fault in the amplifier With the inconsistent AC quality internationally along with shipping concerns the decision was made to halt internationally shipping of the XPR amplifiers Even if a freight forwarder is going to be used we cannot ship them internationally i understand all the reasons, but anyway there must be a way to get these great mono Amps. What is the Thing with the NL Service/Warehouse? Is there hope for Germany, Europe? Please help! THanX

It is only added for Tennessee residents or if you pick something up in person at their location in Franklin, Tennessee. People that buy outside Tennessee and have the equipment shipped to them do not pay the tax.

Tennessee and Taxes - did you know that every time an NHL team plays against the Predators in Nashville, every visiting player that suits up is charged a $2500 tax? Up until last year, the players actually had to pay it. Now the league subsidizes it.
