Hi, I was just curious if many people have received one of these amps that was damaged during shipment due to the weight of these units and the lack of caution used by UPS, FED-EX etc? This is one concern I've had about ordering one I'm not that far away from Emotiva as I'm in mo. 63901 zip. Thanks!

Of the 6 amps that I've ordered from Emotiva, and 1 amp that I sent to/from Emotiva, I've never had an amp damaged by UPS/Fedex.
Now, the packing foam in an XPR-5 got chewed up, and the box was rough.. but amp was fine.
I think the number of amps that are damaged in shipment are actually relatively few. The original packing materials are quite good.

My Sherbourn PA 7-350, which in package weighs about 113 pounds I believe, was received with the outer box looking pretty good. But the inside was a bit of a different story. Much of the Styrofoam packing material was broken/damaged and the faceplate on the amp had a dinged corner. The amp worked fine, but it had obviously not had the most gentle journey either from China to TN or from TN to my house. I haven't heard many experiences like this from folks here in the lounge, so I assume it is a fairly rare occurrence.
Cheers!
Chuck
EDIT: PS: Emotiva immediately took care of the problem!

Thanks for the quick replies, I'm hoping to get the funds I've been waiting for soon as I am going nuts without my music.

Yes, the amps are heavy but they're packaged very well. I've had no damaged units (touch wood). Of course it is possible that sometimes a unit gets damaged in transit but this is very rare.

5 pieces of Emotiva gear. NO damages ever, including my XPA-2. The FedEx guy wasn't happy, but it arrived safe and sound.

A hole in the side of my PA 7-350 packaging, but whatever pierced it, it didnĀ“t reach the amp. So no damage caused.
My UMC-200 arrived in pristine condition.
Btw. I live in Germany.

I ordered several times at Emotiva: two amps, one of them an XPA2, and three less weighty boxes. All received in perfect condition. I live in the Netherlands, a little further away than 63901.

No damage but the boxes for xpa-1 amps were kind of rough, and I was surprised that the UPS man left the boxes in the middle of the driveway where they could have been rained on.

No damage to any of my gear. It has all traveled via Hawaii, Sydney and then another 2500 miles to my house. This all happens in 7 days.

I have 6 Emotiva amps (2 XPA-1's, 3 UPA-1's, 1 UPA-200) plus two XDA-1 DAC's and a Sherbourn PT-7030. All arrived in excellent condition despite the shipping company's best efforts to the contrary.

I got my XPR-5 (100+ lbs boxed/shipped) just before Thanksgiving 2012 (this was before Emo said they were going to 'beef up' the XPR packaging), but my amp arrived in perfect condition - including the outer box itself. And it arrived in only a few days from when I placed the order too!

This is what kept me from finalizing my order of 2 x XPA-1's.
I decided to wait until the European branch opens before getting stuff - it will solve so many hassles (don't have to deal with taxes and extremely high shipping costs).

I ordered the XPA-2 Gen 2 and the XSP-1 preamp and they arrived in perfect condition. Don't know if it made a difference, but I picked them both up at the UPS distribution center.

I have had 7 pieces of Emotiva gear arrive, 5 completely un damaged and 2 with external box damage but no internal damage. That's with the usual 4/5 stop overs on the way to Sydney.
Cheers Gary

No damage, but I was at home a few weeks ago when the UPS driver delivered my XPA-2. He basically tossed it as hard as he could and it landed with a huge thump on my front porch. I went outside and told him that I hope it was not damaged, and that I saw him throw it up on the porch.
He did not seam to care much and said it would be fine. But he sure did not treat the package as I thought it should have been handled.
