This appears to be slightly different from the SR 8100? It says it has a quadcore processor on it? Also... there's a video!

Not sure it's quite a quad core - manual says twin Cirrus 32-bit dual core - just like the SR-8100. 65watts all channels driven is lower than the 80watts the SR-8100 was advertised at, though given overall weight is the same I wonder if they are really different in terms of power output.
The pre-out is a great add - I have powered front speakers and really miss pre-out on my SR-8100. This is a great buy now receiver for people who may want to step up to sep amps later. And, unlike the UMC200, a proper volume knob!
I do wish they had added 1-2 more HDMI ports - easy to max out 4 these days...

Wasn't expecting Emotiva to come out with one but it looks like a fantastic unit. If I was in the market for something like this I would definitely buy it.

The more I think about it pre-outs make so much sense for a company like Emotiva - they want to grow receiver customers into amp customers...

This is perfect for those who are too cheap or don't see the value in audio...like my younger bro. Big step up from the crappy receivers out there with all the bells and whistles but sound horrible.
And the pre-out are great - the first receiver should have had this - since now they have access to the plethora of Emotiva's amps should they want more power.

I paid a lot less than that for my Pioneer and it has more features than I will ever use....Personally, I don't see the value on this product.

Also, the larger input selector, plus small standby button make far more sense then the non-standard SR-8100 setup.
As someone with small kids, I can confirm that initially the huge silver standby button on the Sherbourn was a target too tempting for them to pass up...

This is a slim receiver to go against the 2 slim Marantz models, the new Yamaha slim S-600 model, and a Cambridge Audio slim model. Of these, only the Cambridge has full 7.1 pre-outs but at quite a bit more cost. (The Marantz is mains pre-out only)

Full compatibility with all high-res surround sound formats, precision quad core 32-bit processing power." This could be a typo. As for the power output, I suspect it's the same. Just measured to more Emotiva like standards of THD etc which I appreciate.

(The Marantz is mains pre-out only) Just took a look at the Onkyo and Pioneer lines of receivers, and apparently pre-amp outputs for all channels are apparently at an entry point of about $1000. When did this happen?(Shows how much I've kept up with receivers over the last few generations) A full array of pre-amp outputs used to be had for around $600. Any how, if this is now the trend, this new Emotiva Fusion 8100 is a steal for someone that plans on upgrading power in the future.
