Excited to be a Emotiva member . Recently got a XPA-2 that I connected to my Denon AVR 3808 CI to drive a pair of Polk RTi A9's. Pardon this newbie but looking for the following info: 1. For all those who have a external powered sub (I have a Velodyne DLR 5000) what is the recommended cross over frequency? 2. I connected a 3.5mm mono from the Denon Trigger 1 to the XPA-2 Trigger input and expected the XPA-2 to come out of standby when I power on the Denon but it is not working ..Anything I need to correct? 3. I saw couple of threads where they mentioned that the XPA-2 needs to be in its own electric wall outlet (and not to a shared power surge protector)? I connected it to a power surge and so far did not see anything bad..but before I relaize this the hard way want to know why the XPA-2 needs to connect to a dedicated wall outlet? Appreciate any input/advise and excuse me if these were addressed in other forums here since I did look and could not find answers to my queries. And lastly below is my setup . I had to place the XPA-2 on an older console as my new one is still in the mail. Attachment DeletedRegards kbalabha

We're obviously not all that picky about membership,,,,,,I got in,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,, crossover; for me , it's around 80 but I've been playing around at 60 gust for SAG!( SH *ts and giggles) that's half the fun,,,playing with the settings. as far as a dedicated line for the XPA-2, I think not,,,,,I have a pair of XPR-1s on a single 15 amp line running through a CMX-2. No problems at all. Do your speakers draw a lot of power? If not then there should be no problems at all. Glad your here,,,,take off your shoes and stay awhile. Peace, Nick

> I saw couple of threads where they mentioned that the XPA-2 needs to be in its own electric wall outlet (and not to a shared power surge protector)?
1) The XPA-1 has internal surge protection built it, so doesn't need to be plugged into a surge protector.
2) Some surge protectors use inductors to "slow down" surges. Unfortunately, those inductors also slowdown sudden pulses of power demand from the power amplifier, during peak pulses of music, dampening the music.
So plug everything into the surge protector, except the XPA-1 which you can plug directly into the wall.
Sincerely /b

Welcome to the lounge kbalabha, enjoy your new Emo toy and music as much as you can.
I thing with your Polk RTi A9 it should be a good idea to crossover at 35 or 40Hz.

Nick Simply because these Polk RTi A9 are 100% efficient thru this low Freq. and I'm not a fan of crossover the tower upper their own rated capacities, I preffer let the towers working in their complete efficiency range, I think that this way the sound is more balanced and the subwoofer only playing the extra low-end of the tower couldn't.

Well kbalabha you need to experiment. If you look at my signature lines, I have a bunch of Polks from around Y2K. For my setup with EMO amps and a UMC-1 I found that for my Polks crossing over at the speaker's 3db low end spec. I run my subs at 60hz. The presence of my speakers sound better. I think that some subs may put out as clean at 80hz than some floor standing towers. The EMO amps provide plenty of clean power for speakers. This may or may not work out for you. I prefer clean rather than muddy bass.

Check your Denon configuration menus to see if there is an option that enables the trigger. I had to enable an option on my Denon to get it to trigger the Emotiva amp on, and now it works great.

Where did you get that tv/stereo stand? I really like that and seems to fit the Emotiva gear no problem which is an issue I've run into before even when the specs say it should work.

Ha, figures it would be a custom job. Don't think it would be financially feasable especially with the shipping to Canada. I'd make on myself but don't have access to a welder either. Please enjoy it as it's a wonderful piece.
