You don't want to do it. All that good sound you'll get and that cool gear. All those neat looking LP's. Pure analog sound direct to your Carver's. Nope not something you want.

I have a turntable, but it is mostly used for needle drops now. The convenience of digital outweighs the slight preference I have for the sound of vinyl over high res digital. But, if you spend the tt money on 24 bit files, you would not have to buy all the fun little geegaws that go along with vinyl: record cleaner, stylus cleaner, record brush, tt preamp, set up tools, and a little digital scale to set the tracking weight.

If you're into antiques you will love turntables. If anything they are nostalgic pieces - kinda like a Model T Ford.

My TT is my favorite source. The overall experience is just more fun and the SQ is top notch with decent recordings. My favorite LPs rival SACD. I would prob sell my CD player before I would get rid of my TT. Now a real cheap TT may not give you as great a sound but if you spend more you'll be rewarded.

If you have OCD, can't sit in one place for more than 15 minutes, feel like you must clean something all the time, have a fetish for being meticulous, and run the risk of producing a ground loop problem then by all means go for it.

Now, now... The sound of the best vinyl is only now being rivaled by the sound of the best digital. The AVERAGE sound of vinyl is still superior to the average sound of digital. That said, vinyl is in its "Indian Summer" before the final Fall.
If you want a turntable, get one & enjoy. It's only money.
