Is this a trick question?
If your serious then I'll be the first to say they are upside down.

Yes, that is correct! That is exactly the recommended sub placement for two subs for the new DollBe Azimuth Home Theater co-deck. The sub sounds bounce off the ceiling above the where the subs be placed so you can't tell where the low bass sounds is coming from. Note this is still in development stage like the XMC-1 and can get rather cornfusing and not recommended if you have cathedral ceilings except when playing sacred music originally recorded in a cathedral, Catholic but not the Mormon Tabernacle (the BYU school of electronics/audio engineering is coming up with a firmware/software upgrade for that music).

You will want to turn each one 90 degrees and point the drivers directly at each other. Your seating position should then be right in the middle

I would pull them out just a few more inches and toe them in just a little, that will really open up the soundstage more.

When you run across a tortoise or turtle flipped on its back the humane thing to do is to put it back on its feet again.

In all seriousness, they will work like that... Yes they will but you have to warn guests not to set their drinks down on those end tables.
