Yes - I am aware of that. Here's how I think about that. I bet it costs almost nothing to make a basic plastic remote and include it (relative to what the weapons grade costs). For those who really want the weapons grade remote, they could pay extra to cover all the costs associated w/what you note. My guess...sales of weapons grade would drop to nothing. Mark Since the internals/electronics would need to be basically the same the only cost difference between the plastic and the weapons grade remote would be the case. My guess, a handful of dollars in $1,999 (ie 0.25%), not really worth the effort. Plus, I don't know about the other weapons grade remote users but I'd object strongly to paying for 2 remotes. BTW, I think you would be surprised at the number of us who like the manly feel of a good Emotiva remote. Cheers Gary Since the 'weapons grade' usually ends of in a drawer, why not just make the plastic one? I do love the remote that came packed with the XMC-1, it is truely a piece of gear that matches the XMC-1. What I don't like about it (nit picking here) are the N type batteries it uses. Try to find these in a NiMH type rechargeable! At least all the plastic ones I have seen use AA or AAA batteries.

Got my XMC-1 up and running last night.. Some things I would like to see changed (or perhaps I missed how to do it). 1 - Be able to increase or decrease size of OSD 2 - Stop the annoying flashing green light from the top inside back of the unit (Is that a link light?) 3 - For any source turn off video
I only have three hours trying to figure everything out. Currently the only problem is that the remote turn-on freaks out my UPA-7 and puts it into convulsions.... Still messing with all the sound related settings

Currently the only problem is that the remote turn-on freaks out my UPA-7 and puts it into convulsions.... Please call tech support. We are curious on what that could be. The UMC-200 at first had some instances of trigger issues.

The UMC-200 at first had some instances of trigger issues. Yes, check the triggers. They are very complex and costomizable. They can change state based on the number of channels getting a signal what zones and inputs are active among other things. For example, if the trigger is set to come on when the surrounds have content, when a commercial comes on with two channel content it may shut the amp off. So for speaker settings in the trigger setup, I have deselected all but the fronts.

If what Geebo posted is true, it would seem that a programmable timeout for the triggers might be a good thing. This would allow the amp(s) to stay on for the timeout period selected in the absence of a signal. So, if you set the timeout to 5 minutes, the trigger would not fire until the timeout period had elapsed. If a signal appears during the timeout period, the trigger timeout is reset. Does this make sense?

Still messing with all the sound related settings I have mentioned the size of the OSD in my testing to Emotiva. Since there is no video processing, the OSD size is based upon the input resolution of your source. The lower the resolution the larger the OSD will be on screen. My personal feelings are that it needs to be a bit larger with 1080P sources, especially since many sources are higher resolutions now.

Do you know if the default settings for trigger 1 effectively turn the trigger off and you have to go in and deselect a lot of items before you can get the trigger to activate for something simple like XMC power-up? I'm getting no trigger to my LPA-7, my MMC will trigger the amp using the same cable. With default settings it seems nearly ever item in every category is selected and since the trigger section in the manual is still preliminary and incomplete I'm not really sure what logical conditions each category will follow. I could see where you would probably want "AND" logic under the speaker category and "OR" logic for the inputs, etc.

As you no doubt already know, you CAN pick video from an HDMI input, and combine it with audio from another ( NON-HDMI) audio input. In order to be able to use audio from a different HDMI input, we would have to decode BOTH HDMI inputs at the same time. This is beyond our current hardware capabilities - but could conceivable be part of a hardware upgrade. HDCP (HDMI copy protection) forbids passing a full-resolution (non-downmixed) digital version of the HDMI-sourced audio out of a NON-HDMI digital audio output. Since this is a legal requirement, it seems quite unlikely to change. 1) Not sure if any copy protection issues (HDCP) might forbid this. 2) Non-downmixed? If you are talking about the other zones (1 and 2) it is by definition downmixed ie. stereo output. 3) I think this already happens with zone 2. As far as getting the full-resolution audio out, I understand that and was asking for it outputted through an HDMI out while also outputting to the speaker preamps.

I guess I assumed that OOB it work at least like a simple power-on trigger, but then again as it's been alluded to, "This ain't your grandpa's trigger system"

And I believe you may also need to select which inputs you want them active for. If you want an amp powered by the trigger, you would have to tell the XMC which zone, which input and which speakers need to have signal for the trigger to activate. A trigger tutorial might actually be a good thing seeing has how deep they are on the XMC.

True, we do need more info on this, because to me if I simply want trigger 1 to be active when the XMC is powered on then I should only have to select "Power > Main Zone" as the condition for the trigger, because in this case if the XMC is on I want trigger 1 on and don't care what speaker/input combination is active. I'll give a call to TS and see what they have to say...

For trigger two, I did the same except I only picked inputs that I use for multi channel listening. It will trigger my XPA-5 whenever the XMC is on and one of those inputs I selected is active.

For me - I think I have it configured correctly for trigger activation but once it activates it sends the UPA-7 into convulsions... I'll try the XPA-200 I'm expecting today and change the cable to help reduce the possibilities... Then contact Emotiva..

Maybe this already works, but it would be awesome if the IR output could take arbitrary commands from the IP control. This would allow me to use the XMC-1 to control other devices as well, it would act as a network to IR bridge and that would rock.

For a future product... (RMC?) please put an HDMI port on the front. If for nothing else it will make connecting a laptop for REW that much easier for those of us who have equipment in a rack, etc where just routing a cable through and behind is an issue. It has no HDMI in on the front? OMG.. how did it passed beta-testing? Unimaginable!!! But really... nobody complained? There was comment on why it disappeared from the xmc1 version that was to have had TACT . That coincided with the change from 7 hdmi hdmi 1.4a to 8 1.4b -all on the back ; but of course that was also a gain of 2x hdmi outs and I believe that was a consequence of how the new pcb's were configured ? So swings and roundabouts but I hope the rmc1 gets a front one ; hdmi cables don't bend very easily /are fragile
