I had a pair of the Reference Studio 20 speakers and a cc450. They were the first version. I always felt that they were great HT speakers and TV speakers. Musically speaking other than things in the rock genre I felt they were a bit lacking. They were not super musical speakers. Jazz and the like was a bit wanting. Crank up some Pearl Jam or an action movie and they were great! Try to watch a movie like the Red Violin or play some Diana Krall and they were bettered by others.
I think that they make good not great product. I feel that their pricing is a bit high these days. My Ref 20 and cc450 were like $950 total when i bought them. Now I think the same would be over $1,500 which I would not have done.
I am very intrigued by the Tekton Design speakers... I'd love to try a pair of the Lore-S in my TV room. I've seen some really nice speakers locally on craigs list. Vandersteen seems to be somewhat available in our area. Also spotted some nice NHT 2.5 and PSB Stratus Silvers recently.

danny01, I do a lot of two channel , 85% and would like a recommendation based on that. Vinyl cD, and flac are important to me. 5.1 and theater are second. Matching is nice but it seems I do really like the Klipsch horns but have never heard a ribbon tweeter or many other speakers for that matter. You did hit it on the head about my amps. I figured that I would take lack of power out of my decision making all together. Anyone can chime in here y'all know. I listen to everything but rap,,,,is it really music??? To some I'm sure but not to me. I'll pass on most country and heavy metal as well. Rock, Jazz, almost anything else is in my sweet spot for listening. I like the highs accurate but not pearling or fatiguing. And I must confess,,,,,,,I'm a bass head like my wife. Can you say four subs I use two for two channel and all four for theater. At this point y'all can see that I'm lost! ,,,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,, Are the Klipsch 7 II worth a listen,,,,,if only I had access to a range of speakers to hear. One of the reasons I like Emotiva so much is that we can demo and return easily but large speakesr are very different. Love to here the Pendragon's as well but,,,,,,,,,,, Anyway, thanks for your continued help. I look forward to more feedback. Nick

Go for the Salks I linked above. The highs are sublime. Very accurate and Crystal clear, but not at all in your face or bright. For $3300 I cant think of a better speaker for music. If you are less concerned about aesthetics and have good subwoofage, the Selah Tempesta are an amazing choice as well. They're like Salks M7 from their top Sounscape line, except without the fancy cabinet. Very similar to Salk . You probably won't regret it either... Better hurry if you want those Salks.
Small reminder: make sure you know how an MTM speaker such as the SalkHT2TL behaves when the listening position is moved vertically.

With MTM speakers, the tweeter should be at ear level. As your ear moves vertically away from the height of the tweeter, high frequencies will begin to gradually roll off. This characteristic may be desirable in some cases ie neafield or low ceilings. However if you tend to lay down on the couch to watch tv a lot, the high frequency rolloff is very noticeable.

Great speakers, Danny! However, keep in mind that Nick will really benefit from timbre matching his speakers. This implies Salks all around if he goes for those. Since he already has a complement of Paradigms, and seems to like that sound, it would be most efficient for him to stick with Paradigms. And Paradigms are all over the 'net, he can easily scoop up what he needs used and save a boatload of cash....

I know that some others don't particularly agree, but for now, I'm satisfied with the Axiom M80s.
