Garbulky, How did the manufacturing process of that speaker cabinet, bring the wood grain exactly into the mitered trim pieces. I first thought that the face plate piece was one piece of joined wood, with a milled reveal stepped down around .060 " deeper in the speaker horn area, but there is a 45 degree miter cut on the trim ends. I'm asking because they are in your hands. I love great pieces of craftsmanship. I love fine furniture, and in Audio equipment, it would be mainly the speaker cabinets where the wood work should be pure artistic expression. Of course, we pay heavily sometimes for this quality, and hope the sound quality equals the wood worker's artistic touch. Taking closer scrutiny , and enlarging the photo, it seems that I was to a point, correct, and the speaker cabinet side pieces are made from two separate wood pieces, the whole center plate being of one piece, all the way to the very bottom. Unique woodworking technique, caught my eye.

All this talk of Dark Ranger's friend of his boss's mistress, Nigerian Princes, B&W Oral Pleasure and brass tubas made me recall this:

I hope none of you guys are foolish enough to think this is really about a pair of gold "speakers."

Keith....Sorry, but a horn and tuba do not have a reed. You are describing a woodwind instrument. [Looks in mouthpiece] ... Nope. No little reed stuck in there. It is all lips when playing a brass instrument. The things that impact the sound of brass instruments the most are the shape of the mouthpiece ( rim, cup, throat ), followed by how the lips are positioned on the mouthpiece, then the strength of the muscles surrounding the mouth. The material the horn is made out of impacts the sound very little. Those $200 P-bone plastic trombones, when played by a skilled musician, can sound every bit as good as a professional horn costing thousands. There are plastic trumpets that sound pretty good but the valve casing doesn't hold up very well which causes air to leak. The shape of the tubing ( conical or cylindrical ) would determine how " free-blowing " the horn is. Horns with conical bores will produce a fuller sound but need more air to play correctly. Trumpet = cylindrical. Coronet/G Bugle = conical.

I wish I did, because then I would be building these gorgeous things: I'm not sure if you gathered my review was in jest. I don't actually own these speakers. If I had 5 million bucks, I'd be having my butler type out this message

If I had 5 million bucks, I'd be having my butler type out this message Na, no butler for me. I'd prefer mine to be a hot slut chic dressed in a prep school plaid mini skirt that looks a lot like Kate Beckinsale.
