Reading some of the comments here , I was looking at purchasing the studio 60's and cc 590. What other options int the same price range or less can I compare them to? I noticed a lot of comments in regards to getting something better for less. It will be mostly for movies. Don't really care about bass for the fronts, that would be a good front line of speakers with some nice sub woofers!! 60s are a nice sounding speaker.. cheers And there also drop dead gorgeous !!!!Hummina!!,,,,,Hummina!!,,,,,

Don't really care about bass for the fronts, These are two great floor standing speakers. philharmonicaudio.com/slims.htmlsalksound.com/songtower%20home.htm(the RAAL upgraded version is $2700, but it is worth the money) The Song Towers are raved about and there are many previous Paradigm owners who now own Salks. However, if WAF isn't a factor, they aren't the best bang for your buck. It looks like you want floorstanders, but you also say you don't care about bass(I assume you will use a sub). So have you considered standmount speakers? As opposed to floorstanders, you will be able to buy speakers with higher quality components that will result in better sound for the same amount of money. If you want floorstanders for the intimidating aesthetics, that's a completely valid reason too.. By the way what's the going rate these day for the Studio 60's and 590? Don't really care about bass for the fronts, Given your requirements and assuming you'll be using a sub for movies, I'd say the 60s and 590 are superb. I say that as a previous owner of the 60s and I still have my 590.

so just to answer a few questions, yes, I will have a sub for sure. although its not the most high end sub, i cant afford to get anything better as anything more bassy would likely land me a divorce.
as for the Studio 60's and cc590, the beauty part about is definitely the cost, i can prob get all three at under 3000$ CAD. (MSRP being 4097$ CAD)
for the floor standing speakers, yes mostly aesthetics,
some of the other options mentioned seem a little on the pricier side.
then eventually i need to look at timber matching surrounds and ceiling speakers as well.

Paradigm floor standers are always a better choice sq wise than the minis with subs.. floor standers and subs... a nice multi channel amp will fit into your combo well too xpa 3 or xpa 5! cheers

although at first, my current receiver should be able to handle the studio 60's and cc590, i have a sc-27 pioneer, 140w per channel (without using the ceilings)

I agree about philharmonics. Also don't forget tekton design! You can order their pendragon SEAS "surrounds" to use as bookshelves. They are basically Pendragon SEAS - just in the bookshelf version. (if you can call those massive things bookshelves). Probably very cheap. Other options are their Lore-Seas towers $1500. The enzo towers or the pendragons. www.tektondesign.com/enzo.html
