I purchased a pair of Stealth 6 over a year ago. I don't have a camera and don't use a cell phone to take a photo but because I live in Earthquake country, I ended up with a pair of these stands www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VRREPG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. They have clamps to hold the speaker in place with adjustable height and tilt. The one thing that bothered me was the piering LED on the front of the monitor. I cured this by ordering DimLights www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZZ25K6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. They cut out approximately 80% of the brightness. Since I first ordered the Stealth 6, I've been wondering why I didn't get the Stealth 8 instead. So, I've been sitting here day after day with only two monitor speakers in my home theater, while waiting for the Stealth 8 to go on sale. I had planned on moving the Stealth 6 to surround duty. The problem I'm finding is that I have no place to put a Stealth 6 or 8 vertically. So, I'm hoping that Emotiva does offer a horizontal speaker at some point because i'd hat to be without a center channel speaker. Otherwise, I may go in a different direction and, GOD forbid, back to passive speakers gain! Stealth 88 will be a center channel type design,,as you can lay it on its side and the ribbon tweeter is able to turn on its axis to match the vertical with the rest of speakers. I was told all you had to do was remove four small screws and rotate so it matchs the other stealths. There was a pic in the lounge at one time, but not sure where it is.

I'd be interested in a Stealth 66 with a rotatable folded ribbon tweeter, and more power. (have a very large family room) Actually, I'd take a trio of 3 across the front and then use my on-hand Stealth 6s for the rear. GTG with a pair of subs!

So what is so much better about the stealth 6 than a normal passive speaker? I'm asking for real world differences that you are utilizing with your setup.

For one, a seamless sound quality since the amplifiers (plural) are actively designed and optimized to work within the specific frequency range of each driver. There is also the flexibility to utilize the dip switches located on the amp plate to make frequency adjustments toward achieving a personal desire/taste without the need for external processing, if so desired. A simple XLR connection, no speaker wire, although requires an A/C power outlet. Also, less parts are utilized overall and everything is designed to work together like a tuned instrument; therefore, greater bang for the buck.
For a passive speaker, as you are aware, requires external amplification that amplifies a signal over a broad frequency range, say 20 hz to 20 KHz for an example. This broad frequency external amplification then travels through speaker wire(not needed for active speakers), than hits a bottleneck, a passive crossover network to divide(split)the broad frequency amplification for each driver which creates heat and is less efficient; therefore, is a waste of power and requires more parts overall, more $.

For me I just wanted to try them out from all the fuss I have heard, I really enjoy the less clutter and wires and they do sound really good, whether it's because the amplifiers are matched to the drivers and such I'm not sure but they have found a good home here, some may like the idea and some may not but I was willing to give them a shot and I'm glad I did Chad

Welcome to the club. I had the Stealth 8 for the front and 6 for the surrounds and was nothing short of stunning. I am really shocked that more people aren't switching to a fully active system. I know it means you have to run power to the speaker locations, but with so many people already calling out electricians to run speaker wires, why not just run in wall balanced lines and power? Lonnie Can you make our fantasies a reality and build and sell us a Stealth 66, at a really good price of course Heck I will even be a beta tester Chad

So I have had more time with the Stealth 6's and am really liking the things I am hearing from these speakers....except I am finding something is missing from the sound going from my RX6 towers to the stealths but my brain is glitching from trying to figure it out, not sure how exactly to say it but they seem less full sounding especially at lower volumes, trying to listen later at night with the volume lower(30-40 on the 7030) it is just plain bland sounding. Another strange thing is if a track has lots of bass then you get lots of bass but if it has slightly less bass I am getting nothing and the sound is weak, this is making me miss my RX6 and Emotiva amps now. I'm at a loss in what to do, I've tried different placement and moving my rear acoustic panels around and also playing around with the switches on the back, maybe I'm just used to a bigger speaker that sounds exactly that "Bigger" ?, I'm really not looking forward to losing a bunch of cash on the stealths already though to go back to passive speakers Chad

Also, I boosted each input to +10db from my UMC-1 and this helped a lot. I feel like with each input boosted I get better sound from the stealths. Coming from the Pendragons I can definitely attest that they aren't as "big" sounding. Try the two things I listed above and see if that helps. I am really happy with the Stealths, but in all honesty they aren't big speakers and don't throw a big sound. If you were living in the realm of bookshelf sized speakers the Stealth 6 would probably knock your socks off, but coming from floorstanders the stealths will be a bit easier to isolate.

Hey Pop, did you just get the Stealths ? last I seen you had the Pendragons haha, I wasn't sure about adjusting the sensitivity on the back as I see they are at +2 from the factory and I always found my emotiva amps with lower gain sounded better ? but who knows what is going on anymore haah I know I'm lost at times, like I have mentioned before everyone who has heard my RX6 towers said they sounded way bigger than what they were so maybe that is part of it, maybe it's midbass the Stealth 6 is lacking for me ? all I know is it's bugging me lol. I guess I could always sell them and get an XPA-5 again and another set of the RX6's, it's strange I like something from both sides though. The Stealths seem to present more of the recording and sound more natural but the RX6's felt more grounded and fuller sounding ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Also I don't really notice this watching movies but more with 2ch material, the only movie I have actually been able to watch with a good volume is Pacific Rim and it sounded really good. One suggestion is spend some more time just listening, not to break them in but break in your ears. We get used to hearing a certain sound and it becomes the "right" sound when compared to something new. Also, something that initially dazzles isn't necessarily going to turn out good - for example when you go to the store and see all those bright TV displays, or compare an LCD panel to a plasma panel, the bright ones give the better first impression (as to louder speakers, etc.). So my suggestion is to take some time to just sit back and listen to the Stealths.

I have spent many evenings listening to lots of my favorite stuff and I have tried stereo mode with my 7030 using the sub but I prefer listening with the 7030 in bypass so everything is sent to the speakers, I do understand the change thing which could be part of it as well but I have about 10 -15 hours of listening so far, crappy thing is I think I'm past my 30 day trial and would obviously go back to an Emotiva amp

Sold my triton 2's, so I could downsize. "Do I also have to downsize my expectations?"

I did switch from the Pendragons. It has taken a bit of time getting used to the stealths. Just as you describe the Pendragons are much bigger sounding much like your RX6. I am not in the least disappointed with the Stealths, but I knew I was going to be missing something from the Pendragons. My expectations of the stealths has far surpassed what I was originally dreaming. At lower levels of listening I am loosing a ton from the Pendragons. Fortunately I am not required to turn things down at any hours of the night.
It did take me quite a few days to get the stealths perfectly dialed in with my system. My recommendation would be to upgrade your subwoofer for more mid bass slam. I run 2 very powerful subs crossed over at 80hz. I think with 1 sub I might be missing the mid bass you are talking about.
I am totally satisfied with music in stereo. It's different and I do prefer the Pendragons a bit more, but the sounds from the stealth are very satisfying to me. It is mostly movies that I am missing the Pendragons for. There simply is no comparison between the two. Pendragons take the cake all day in the theater department.
