Are the differences only in the Gen 2 trim?

Are the differences only in the Gen 2 trim? I've been wondering the same thing.

As near as I can tell the black trim is the only difference.

Did anyone get the chance to see whether the new specs are different from the old generation? I am thinking about placing an order about this amp... If this amp will still generate heat , then I might chance my mind not to buy this amp cuz I used to have onkyo 905 that caused me pain and too much worries due to the fact that it generated too much heat.... So what do you think, my friends?

So what do you think, my friends? The XPA-1 L is a class A amp. By definition it has to generate tons of heat. However as long as it has a bit of ventillation it will be fine. It has the same warranty as the others. Just don't put it on carpet or put stuff on top of it that does not leave a gap or put it in a closed cabinet.

Also the manual is the same as the old generation because it does not say gen2 and the lower right frontal picture where it says XPA 1L does not show gen 2 under it unlike the other gen 2 versions like for example XPA 2 gen2...What do you think?

That's just Emotiva being Emotiva It doesn't look like there's any difference between the old and new amp. Just cosmetics.

I think it is/was the very first gen 2 , and I don't think you can/could really improve the amp or its design. if it makes anyone feel better, slap a gen 2 sticker on it along with the gen2 black trim,,,,,Done!!! Perfect!!!

I'd be a little disappointed that it didn't say Gen 2 if I had other G2 equipment to match. I remember that the G2 anodizing was supposed to be a slightly different color, can anyone who has a mix of G1/G2 confirm this? Since the G1 had 29 dB gain it was pretty much G2 inside already. As for the heat you could always flip it to A/B if it got too bothersome (like during the dog days of summer).

Hey, I wont forget you because all the advice you gave me then and now is really helpful. I learned from you that DC-1 is great then I bought one to replace my one month old XDA-2 and a lot more. What's more, you told me something like this the other day that it is unwise to purchase XPA 1 for my current set up since it XPA 2 will do the same thing and that's really right. But what do you think about this new amp, 1L? Will be the perfect match for my LSI15 because my current XPA 2 with will be connected to my LSI9 instead?

Does the 1L's heat like the heat of XPA 5 if it is on class A mode?
