It's quite fun to see those smart ones with software skillz getting ahead of the emotiva guys... I really hoped they would have had a complete or at least distributable app for the xmc at this stage of production. My lan port is sadly unresponsive still, and no joy from support other than the fact that lonnie replied...must chase up before the weekend is upon us...as it is here already. I'm really wanting a second xmc in the network so I hope all of these apps will work with multiple xmc's on the same network or I will be stuck with iruleathome.com as my mainstay. That said I wonder with my mediocre programing that I might be able to make something on synology to send commands via http page. I think if you rename one of the XMCs from the default "XMC-1" label then you should be good.

When the Ping is sent from the app, ALL XMC-1s will respond with a Transponder reply. From these relies the Model, Friendly Name(or default of XMC-1) and the IP Address of the responding device are returned. This info allows you to select which XMC-1 you want to connect to, or perhaps both! I will make my app support this once I finish the VB.NET port.

Hi Chuck, I see your independent power switch for zone 2 and it makes me wonder how you did that. Are you able to turn on or off a trigger with a simple command? That would really help my 3 zones setup! Is there a command to switch the triggers on or off? could you add a page to your app for the 4 triggers?

I have a feeling...call me psychic that it will see and detect the first one and call it a day...at least in their current versions. For 98% of users this won't be an issue...internally i At Emotiva hq I hope that it might be an issue +1 for the individual trigger control...a must have

I think if you rename one of the XMCs from the default "XMC-1" label then you should be good. Not sure that's really required as the idea would be use the source IP for the broadcasts to identify each machine from a coding perspective, but it would probably help for easy identification.

Exactly! If you have 2 machines that don't have a "friendly name" set they will both report "XMC-1" and you won't know which is which! The whole idea of the ping/transponder is so you don't need to set a static IP and identify as such.

I think there is a issue with firmware 1.3 or the documentation for the Zone 2 volume. I could not get the Zone 2 volume control to work with irule. I got all the other commands to work with irule.

Yep, all Chuck. Scares me that I probably have 100+ hours in it too, but I like to program. Started with a DEC PDP-8I in the summer of 1969 during a summer course. I was 17. Hard to believe that was 45 years ago! We've come a long way!

It had the OS on a tape and if you missed the spot where the command you issued was, you had to wait until it came around again!... No instant gratification there... Then came the PDP-11s and later Vaxes and VMS. Too bad DEC didn't make it. Great hardware and OSs IMHO. I still have some TDK tapes somewhere in my garage..

My high school's initial PDP-8I only had 2 TTYs with it, so an OS load was done via the 10 cps TTY paper-tape reader. It was stacks of paper-tape to re-load the system. I moved to the Data General line of Novas and Eclipses after tech school. AOS which ran on the Eclipses was a very similar and wonderful OS, much like DEC's. Moving to the PC and DOS 1.1 in 1983 was like a giant step backwards!!! Although, it was my first experience programming for a nationally marketed product: "The Smart Software System" by Innovative Software which was a spreadsheet, database and word-processor.

Chuck great work...just wish you had a more platform independent programming option.

I like the changes from the original version... can't wait to give this version a try. Still hoping for an iOS and or OS X version. This is still awesome to see and thanks for all the hard work and dedication to this project!

If there is an iOS or Android developer out there, I will gladly pass the sources if they will do a port!
