well -- made a new cal file for rew. I am waiting on another to verify it is more accurate. I am showing within 3 db total for 18hz-20k I made a new one for the EMM in REW and have the high end dialed in to match to the Umik. Now to work on the low end.

I sent you a link to my file - can you see how it stacks up? I am looking for a -+3db that will work over multiple microphones Tony

ansat, yours is better from around 14K and up than mine though. Ya, not sure what to think about that. Real world only needs 20 to 15k so I don't really worry about the 15k to 20k and would prefer dirac just leave it alone. Tony Hey, dogs have a right to listen to room corrected sound too!

Tony Hey, dogs have a right to listen to room corrected sound too! Not if its too hot. Reminds me of a funny quirk about my cat. She is really sensitive to distortion. (she goes to the theater room every time I watch a movie and perches herself on my lap) But if the audio is bad, you will see her hears pin back, then she will start rubbing her face on my arm, then CHOMP! I get teeth marks. She does the same thing when I use the speaker on my phone. But if the audio is good, she will nap with the theater at reference. Tony

Yes I used the 90 cal file. Had both mic's pointing to the ceiling. Report attached in PDF. used the "narrow_band_response_90_degree.frd" View AttachmentUsing the Emotiva cal file from my Dirac installed PC with the EMM mic "EmotivaMicCalOA.txt" Interested to find the cal file on my windows 8.1 laptop, I used a filename search. On my laptop the cal file was located in: C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\Dirac\OEM\Emotiva\MicCalFilesThis directory didn't only contain the cal file of the Emotiva MIC but also a file called: XTZmic_cal.txt. I presume this is a mic from XTZ. And yes I have installed my XTZ Analyser pro software on this laptop (I have V1 mic which is not that accurate as the V2) but this was after the installation of the DIRAC software. And both files have same creation date (when I installed DIRAC software). Do others also have this XTZ file?

I wonder if they should get in touch with Cross Spectrum to take a sample and to make a few files for them? Tony

seems the supplier has some QC issues. Hope mine is ok,not like some of us just live round the corner from Tennessee. I gotta chime in and say that the XLR connector is one of the cheesier ones I've seen. A nice Neutrik or Amphenol connector would have been a great quality upgrade for a small uptick in cost. When I tap on the XLR I hear a rattle, probably from the button lock spring. There's no real strain relief of the preferred collet type, just a stamped steel clamp over the cable. If anyone at Emo is interested I can hook ya'll up with my US reps. I've had wonderfully manufactured proprietary designs of all types of connectors made for me by both companies. Small detail but just sayin' I just got my kit yesterday and mine has a different connector then yours. Good strain relief and no rattles. The Neutrik ones are nice but I don't see a problem with the one I got given the amount of use it is going to get. Attachments:

I think he was showing an example of what he would like the connector to be. Not what is at the end of his Dirac cable..... I think.

Plugged mine in and did a very quick check with record setup in win7 and I get vu activity so it's working.
Also went into the dirac s/w saw the levels check all working. But had to abandon more checks as the xmc kills audio so the mrs was noticibally p'd off.
Noted the red led seems to have some different states...on solid or flashing but have yet to identify what state is what

I believe the red LED is sold on when plugged into the computer and flashing when the Dirac software is running.

So, I did some playing this evening and confirmed that the AGC (automatic gain control) will mess with the dirac results. Also, it appears that sometimes the AGC will turn its self on when the mic is connected... Before each measurement with REW or with Dirac, this will need to be checked.

Good to know for sure. To my way of thinking, giving exclusive control should mean just that, but again this is M$ we are talking about. My umik-1 does not have AGC on Win 8.1

Tony So AGC needs to be unchecked? But if DIRAC software has exclusive control of the MIC, does the Windows AGC still work? Can it be seen on the DIRAC results if AGC was active or not?
