The source blu-rays are being planned for autumn. Several company press releases day they will have products and TV are starting to ship with HDR. Can you please give us an update in this board and how we will get it into our XMC-1. Mine had not shipped yet. Will I get the new board? I've not yet seen an announcement by Sony, Panasonic or Samsung stating a date for the actual players, just the fact that the Blu-Ray Association will start licensing later this summer. Mainly just speculation of late 2015 for actual player, do you have a link to a more specific announcement and time line?

You know I am kind of wondering about this HDR stuff. In order for it to do well, one assumes that your display device itself has the contrast ratio, and white, and black levels right and all. Will it really be an enhancement that is natural, or another gimmick that is creating something that shouldn't be there in the 1st place. Yeah, stirring up the pot. Happy Saturday everyone.

A few movies theaters are set up already for HDR movies. Tomorrow land is supposed to be one where there's a HDR print available for Dolby theaters. If you can get to one, you can see whether it's much better than Tomorrowland at a regular movie theater

^^^ That is assuming you can make it through Tomorrowland without falling asleep!
A crappy movie seen with great new technology is still crap.

I just read it can be done with dual laser projectors courtesy of Christie.

I saw the same preview. I would not judge a film without seeing it, but the 12 minutes I saw look pretty good.

My wife said it was definitely worth watching. She liked it. Not awesome, but certainly not horrible.

Let me answer a couple of questions... 1. The HDMI upgrade can be done in your home. It involves removing the top cover and unscrewing the HDMI board and unplugging a couple of connectors. The new board fits in the exact same way as the old board. You'll screw in the new board, plug in the connectors (which can only go in one way!) and re-flash the unit with the new firmware that will be included with the board on a USB drive or as a download. You're done. Then you can wait for someone to make a real 4k player! Ha!! 2. The are several new processors in development right now. I'd spoken about this at CES, so its not a secret. We have a 16 channel Atmos enabled unit in development and it will be the new XMR-1. It will have a new T.I. 800 Series six core processing engine with enough power to handle Atmos, DTS-X, and whatever else is thrown at us. It is completely balanced on ALL channels and will go head to head with ANY processor on the market today, or tomorrow. It goes without saying it will ship with Dirac Live for Emotiva on all channels, and soon after release, we will be able to offer Dirac Unison. If you haven't heard of it yet, search it on Dirac's site. The new XMR-1 is going to be a monster. Made in Franklin, TN USA 3. There is a "baby" 7.1 processor in final development. It has some very cool features that I'm not ready to speak about just now, but it'll be a sweetheart. I predict this one will be a huge success. As a teaser though, it uses a smaller version of the OLED used in the XMC-1 and you have to see it to believe it. Same exact look and resolution, but smaller. It's going to have some very unique and useful features. We have fully functional hardware running on this unit, so its launch is not that far off. Made in Franklin, TN USA 3. Speakers are well into development. I'll admit we've had some false starts and stops on this program. However, we are on track now with a new line that is going to be really special and reflect the values and thinking of our company. We've got a great new look that says "Emotiva" and the quality of the European made drive units is stunning. And yes, they will be very affordable. 4. You're going to be seeing a lot of new things on the site very soon along with some exciting announcements in the next 30 to 60 days. This is going to be great year for all of you, and the company. Cheers, Big Dan And it's October! an update on these would have been super nice!!

"4. You're going to be seeing a lot of new things on the site very soon along with some exciting announcements in the next 30 to 60 days. This is going to be great year for all of you, and the company." My emphasis.
Must admit Emotiva's idea of very soon is different from mine. Also, were there any exciting announcements besides the Egos? May have missed something.
In the mood to upgrade my amp but do not have the room or strength to wrangle a 19" deep 100 lb monster. Recently purchased a Wyred for Sound Class D amp that I really like but am always looking for something newer/better. Hoping that Emotiva has something in the wings in this regards, but I would really like to hear something concrete from them on what is coming. I would really like to continue my support for Emotiva but I need something to keep me interested and not looking elsewhere. I certainly do not expect an exact date, but like a ballpark estimate if possible. Realize that time estimates in the past have brought down the wrath of folks on Emotiva, but isn't there a happy medium that can be found between exact dates and no info what so ever?
Ok, now that I have blown off some steam, please forgive my rant.
Regards to all (especially the folks at Emotiva for their great products and a reasonable price),
Steve

This one seems very interesting to me. Hopefully it will have high quality dacs and hdmi 2.0/hdcp 2.2. Good with Movies and music. Perhaps there will be more info coming soon.

Are we going to complain when this board doesn't have HDMI 2.0a with HDR support that came out in May after Dan's announcement?

Agreed! I am very interested in that as well, but how long do they expect us to wait without any updates? Seems like after 8 months a little more info about some of these exciting new things and announcements could be made.
Oh well, patience was never one of my strong points.

Just a very short update here. Speakers. Preparing for pilot run now. Just making a few minor adjustments to the tuning, packaging and such. Baby processor. Fully working hardware, got a few surprises built into it that I think everyone will like (well maybe not everyone ) Still got a lot of code to vet though. HDMI 2.0 for XMC-1. Working well on the bench, just need to fully vet the hardware and code. So it is coming along fine. ??. Coming along fine. Well into the development cycle and further info to be released soon. Thank you Lonnie for that update.
Just starting to think about Christmas and how a couple Emotiva products would look good under the tree. That baby processor sounds very intriguing.
Take care,
Steve
