Having stereo and multi-channel AAC decoding would be good. Whenever I have a audio file with that, I have to change from RAW to LPCM. Bit of pain in a backside.

The XMC-1 certainly does AAC stereo. I don't know about multi-channel though.

What are currently the most affordable options for getting Atmos 7.1/2.4? I'm looking forward to the XMR-1 but doubt I need a lot of the features. I'm just looking to get the cheapest Atmos decoder that I can get my hands on. I have an upgrade card from my UMC-1.

As far as I know the Denon AVR-X7200 is the go to for the lowest cost atmos 7.2.4. I really enjoy my 8802a but but for HT I doubt most people would notice the difference.

Since you said most affordable 7.1.4 then you should probably take a look at the Denon AVR-X6200 or Marantz AV7702 mk2. Both have 2 sub outputs.

I would guess not.

There are still a number of amps to be released this year, possibly other products. And an upgrade for the XMC-1.

I'd be very surprised to see it this year.

There are always options and I've always known having options as a good thing, but will those options sound as good as an Emotiva product that you may have to wait for?(I don't think so)!

My XMC+1, no missprint here, Im calling the upgraded XMC-1 the new improved XMC( plus) 1 and not the XMC (minus) 1,  will work just fine untill the release of the,  ?MR-1.

since Dan said it wouldn't be called the XMR-1 I thought this would do for now,,,,,,,,, ?MR-1

Hey wait...I'm speculating!

I only say that - because it sounds like there is still a lot of work to be done and it's way more complicated than the XMC-1. I'm sure lots of work to still be done with MDS.

But.... I have no real information to base my thoughts on.
