My wife has a working partner that is based in Franklin...he has never heard of Emotiva, that said he is also not into hifi....I don't know how big Franklin is but I'm guessing it's not a huge population. I however have never been to Franklin, nor even TN but I'll get there one day soon. That doesn't mean much. In RI there is a globally based paintball company called planet eclipse. It's a multi million dollar corp. which I had no clue about was in RI until I played professionally. So there ya...

The thing is if you haven't heard of Emotiva you're not going to know to Google the name. Just like your wife's friend might drive by Emotiva everyday and still not have any idea what it is without being able to reference any of their products. When new tech comes out like DTS:X and Atmos it's a reason me and most people interested might want to Google the codec and find out more about it. This is when having a unknown brand name with a DTS:X/Atmos flagship receiver would get some good recognition over just the Emotiva flagship reciever resulting in more sales of not only the XMR-1 but of every other offering. They will know if they can take advantage of that PR and the reviewers to have that value added.

Is Dirac Unison supposed to free up sub placement and number recommendations? Should you still corner load or 1/4 wavelength 4 subs max With same make and model of sub?
Also what about the 38 percent rule for seating distance from the rear wall and front wall?...
Will there be a sub channel limit or is it your call?

Thanks for the link. Two areas caught my attention:
Per Dirac's Mathias Johansson
"However, Dirac recently showed a preview of an altogether different kind of digital room correction, which we prefer to call active room treatment. This approach, which we have named Dirac Unison, aims not just to combat average room behavior, but also changes the whole wave pattern in the room. This is accomplished by using multiple speakers. For example, if you are listening to stereo material on a 5.1 speaker set-up, Dirac Unison can use the remaining speakers to actively treat the room, rather than just do a virtual surround up-mix or simply shut them off. A speaker may be a primary source or a support source. The support sources are used to improve the impulse responses and frequency responses of the primary sources in all measurement positions. This way, we can control the wave pattern in the room, and speakers in corners start acting as bass traps, etc."
"Yes, we correct subwoofers. Regardless of the number of subwoofers, one of the main benefits of Dirac Live is the time-domain optimization. A lot of room acoustic behavior is non-minimum-phase and only a proper mixed-phase correction using multiple measurements can maximize the tightness of the bass.
It should be mentioned that the coming Dirac Unison technology will improve first and foremost the bass interaction of multiple-woofer systems through its unique joint time-domain optimization of all speakers. The first launch for the HiFi segment is not yet scheduled firmly, but will likely happen in 2015."
Dirac Unison's ability to perform the above is why I'm patiently waiting for the XMR.

I miss the old days when we'd get updates about product development..... Instead of now when we don't see much until the product is shipping...
I understand why... But still blah.

Just so the Emotiva brass don't think that Erwin is the only one interested in the XMR-1, I too would love to hear something new. Yes, I know that the last update said early next year. Give us a crumb.
