This is what I have received today from Emotiva:
"We now possibly have several problems (power supply and software) Please do not try any further attempts at firmware upgrading until the power supply has been repaired. 2 small capacitors must be changed on the small power supply board. They are labeled C18 and C19 I am sending pictures of these caps, values and locations, so that you can remedy the repair. Hopefully after the repair your unit maybe fine, if not then you can try to updated the firmware again Joe Laliberte, Sr. Service Manager Emotiva Audio Corporation "
I really don't mind fixing it myself. These capacitors worth pennies. I think that Emotiva run out of supply boards (UMC-200 is no longer on production line). Anyway, if someone is not able fixing it - always could take the power board to a reliable technician.

I would just like to add that, while a "loading loop" CAN be caused by a bad power supply, there are also other possible reasons, so don't assume that it's always a bad power supply.

Indeed, it was the 2 capacitors on the power board. I've replaced them in 10 minutes and now it works like charm.

Does anyone that has this power supply issue ever have any other problems with their umc-200 before hand? Maybe losing sound during playback or unit panel display blinking etc... Just wondering what to expect since im having sound problems with my unit.

YES ! My UMC-200 has risen from the dead. Changed C18 & C19. Thanks a lot guys.
I tried to measure the connectors going out from the power unit to se a difference before and after the capacitor change (with 220VAC connected) But I only got 5 Volts on some pins. And I got the same results after the change. I guess this is because the wakeup pin has to signal the powerboard to activate the remaining +5 +12 etc

I also had to replace C18 and C19 in the power supply as my UMC-200 would no longer boot up.
This seems to have fixed the problem which i'm glad as Emotiva support stopped replying to me even though the unit is still under warranty. Just because I live in Australia doesn't mean I shouldn't receive support.

I just got the same issue here after a thunderstorm (but the umc-200 was connected to a panamax power conditioner but that did not help). Send to trust tech support here in Brazil since Emotiva does not have any authorized center here.
Anyone encountered any ohter issue so far than the capacitors faulty for this specific issue? Anything i should advise the techs? since I´m using my house insurance to cover the fixing for all eletronics damaged by the event, I need to have them fixed be professionals and have a thecnical report about the that. So i cannot mess up with that, at least no so far.

This sounds an awful lot like the power source problem that I had with my UMC-200. I sent it in for repair and if I'm remembering correctly, they replaced C18 & C19 in the power supply. Give tech support a call on Monday. Thank you so much for posting this!!! I was about to buy a new pre-amp but decided to take things into my own hand. $20.- later with a purchase of a few capacitors on amazon and a little soldering my umc-200 is working as good as new. THANK YOU!!!!

Still getting the same error (infinite loop, loading....) after change C18 and C19. I think there is something else in the hdmi board since the ps4 connected there also had the hdmi fried. The tech here in Brazil are out of clues now, and send the proc to Emotiva is not viable.

Big Thank You to the forum.

The values are listed in this thread and you should be able to find an electronics retailer by yourself? Btw. I also fixed a Nakamichi AV-1 the same way...

Well, the values ARE listed in the post exactly above your question. Or just use the exact same ones the caps currently used have... Regarding voltage etc. anyone doing this replacement himself should imho have as much basic knowledge about electronics to know what voltage and temperature on a cap mean and therefore decide if you want / need higher values than the ones originally used or not. Since I don´t know where you live, how can I recommend you any shop / dealer? The ones I know and use most likely are in a different country... I also expect any grown man with access to google to be able to figure something like this out by himself - but maybe I am wrong with this. Anyway, good luck with the replacement! Looking back in the thread do I understand it right that this repair was already done once on your unit in 2015 by Emotiva?

Having the same issue, had it a couple of months ago, but after powering it off and on again 2 times it went away.
Today my hdmi started switching and showing weird stuff, so turned everything off. And since then I see the loading screen.
so I assume it might be the same issue, no ?
