With the summer sale and an additional 10% discount for being a Emotiva club member I had to! These will replace a 32 year old SAE A501 amp. That old amp did a great job with the JBL 100s, ESS AMT10bs, and others that I can't even remember now. But I just got a great deal on a pair of Paradigm Signature 6's and the old girl just wasn't hacking it.
What is a good music track to play to compare them back to back. Yeah, I know the time lapse will be large but it might be fun to hear drums having some extra snap or thump, bass that shudders your chest, etc.
And finally, do most of you use them in Class A or use the Class A/B switch? Is there an actual audio improvement in switching to Class A??
Anyway, glad to be part of the monoblock society.

Good choice, I'm sure Nick will be on soon promising that your Monoblock Society Membership is in the mail.
Class A versus Class AB is an interesting subject, firstly I wouldn't expect a night and day revelation, the fact is the Class AB in Emotiva power amps is so good that there's not much room for improvement. It's pretty subtle, not all music reveals it, not all sources, speakers and rooms allow it to be distinguished. The best advice is to try it for yourself and see what you notice, then let us know.
Cheers Gary

I will listen any Tracy Chapman Cds, they are really dynamic. You can find them kind of low volume but actually that is good. I'm against loudness war all the way

This right here. Turn it much louder than you expect and be rewarded!
Also Jennifer Warnes - way down deep. Woah!

Welcome! Our membership roles continue to swell!! There's a great reason for this. People of your stature and obvious intelligence have come to be enlightened by " The One " which is actually Two! For those that need this explained need not apply!!,,,
It it is my great privilege to forward the proper documentation and application forms to you. You will receive these by Special Carrierer. Further instructions will then follow.

Well, this is not good. Carefully set everything up and put on Pink Floyd "Wish you were here". Loving it until 15 minutes in, the right channel quits. Nice blue lights, just no sound. Too tired now to do trouble shooting, but this is discouraging.

Well, the issue went away apparently. This morning cranked the system up and played 3 CD's without issue. Hopefully that was just a bizarre occurrence.
Anyway, WOW!! It's like a new set of speakers!!! Sound just has such a deep and spacious image! I kept edging the volume up to bask in the power!!! I had a bit of humm with my old SAE, these are dead silent between tracks and then the music explodes out of the speakers!!! I'm a kid again for awhile LOL!

If I have a pair of XPR-2's would I gain any advantage to going to a set of monoblocks, in terms of sound quality. Is the XPA-1 a dying breed as well?

I guess I should clarify I am using the XPR-2's with B&W CM 10'S. would the XPA-1 make much of a difference?
