I've found the cause of my buzz and can't eliminate it without ridding myself of it.
Help!!
ive bypassed the pre and the buzz is gone. Yamaha directly to the amps and the speakers,,,,,AND I ,,,,,,are happy.
I had sent this unit back when I first got it and they claimed it was fine. ITS NOT!!!!!
HT BYPASS does not bypass the buzz. I'm non too happy, in case no one could figure this out! I've lived with it but I think it's a 's*bleep* & just not right.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

When you bypass the Xsp you are also bypassing other components you have connected to its inputs. Is the buzz present on all inputs? Have you tried process of elimination in regards to inputs and components? It should be dead silent. I would be equally frustrated.

I'm certainly not an expert in this, but the fact you get the system buzzing when the Yamaha is plugged in does not necessarily point to the XSP-1. What else is plugged into the XSP or more importantly to the Yamaha? I understand things are silent when you eliminate the XSP-1, but....

1) I have/had pre-in from the Yamaha and then out to a set of XPA-1Ls and then to the speakers and they buzz.
2) take the XSP-1 out of the chain and the speakers are dead quiet,,,,,nodda,,,,,,,zippo,,,,,,silent!! Happy speakers.

I've run power to the XSP-1 from all over the house and there is no change in the buzz.

Have you tried unplugging everything from the Yamaha (cable box?) with the XSP-1 in the chain and if so, was it still buzzing?

What happens when you disconnect the Yamaha and just use the XSP-1? This seems like some sort of ground loop problem.

Sometimes things work in mysterious ways - this is totally unrelated, but I have an expensive cellular signal booster in my house and from time to time (sometimes once a month) the booster totally wipes out 5GHz band in my router - I can be within a foot from the router and no wireless device can see the 5GHz band (2.4GHz is not affected). To get it back all I have to do is to unplug the booster for a second and the 5GHz comes back. I can then plug the booster back and everything will work fine until it happens again.

OK, jRiver to DC-1 to XSP-1 to amps to speakers,,,,,,,no buzz
So , in HT bypass there is some kind of conflict between the Yamaha and the XSP-1,,,,,
What do I do about that? The XSP-1 was built to play with a processor.

Any suggestions on how to cure the HT Bypass Buzz??? There has to be a cure, or why build a pre with it?

Any suggestions on how to cure the HT Bypass Buzz??? There has to be a cure, or why build a pre with it? I had something similar with a Conrad Johnson ET3 SE Preamp with HT Bypass. My fix was to rearrange all my power cables into the power boards. I was using 2 power boards with 8 plugs on each. Swapping around which component I had in which power board and the order fixed it for me. Though one power board was expensive with its own star ground type setup. Also I switched to shielded RCA connectors between components.

Hey rocky500, ive tried pulling power from all over the house for the XSP-1, you think trying a CMX-2 may work?

Hey rocky500, ive tried pulling power from all over the house for the XSP-1, you think trying a CMX-2 may work? I ended up buying an expensive PS Audio Dectet power board that had a type of Star ground setup and the way I arranged my cables into the power boards fixed my problem. I have seen other boards with with star ground type setup too when I was looking for one. I think Isotek makes them too. The CMX-2 might work too but I have never tried one as they don't make one to suit us in Australia with our 240V. (250V actually where I live )

Actually I just looked up my problem I had a while back with my CJ Preamp and HT Bypass and my fix back then was to get some rothwell attenuators and put them between the Preamp and amp. My buzz was pretty bad then. It seemed like too much gain in that specific problem I had. picosong.com/kWDk/

Can you find me a link or something? I really love both pieces of gear for what they do separately and would love to use them both with the same speakers.

2 RothWell In-line 10dB attenuators
So your saying that these fixed your problem??

I'm not familiar with a star ground setup. Can you find me a link or something? I think it is when they run a separate wire to each point on the power board back to a main spot instead of daisy chaining each point on the power board.
