hi again y'all! hope you're all having a nice summer wherever you may be. I just switched speaker stands for my little bookshelf style monitors because I thought the previous stands were a bit too tall. I am asking all you who want to participate to measure the height of the top of your speaker cabinets from the floor. the previous stands I owned had the top of the cabinet measuring 43" tall. the new stands I just put in place today have the top of the cabinet measuring 39" from the floor. the center of the tweeter is 2" from the top of the cabinet. I like the sound of the new ones better. the treble is clearer. I researched some tower speakers to see what an average height would be and got varying heights of course. I went to joseph audio for starters and one of theirs was 43" and another was 36". now also, I am 5'8" tall and sit on an average height couch.

25" (Ascend Sierra 2's that are 14" tall on an 11" stand). My comfy chair is on the low side and my ear is 33" from the floor. The speaker stands have a 1" tilt from back to front so while they are below ear level, the tilt compensates for that.

I don't have exact measurements, but when i picked the stands i chose the height that made the tweeter at my ear level sitting on my listening chair. Also it was recommended by the manufacturer have the center of the tweeeter at ear levell ( Dali speakers)

Not tall enough. Most speakers seem to be intended for smaller people. That's OK if they're on stands - I can raise them. Floor standers, not so much...

If we're counting a tower stack then my towers plus the bookshelves sitting atop them measure at 55". The towers are 38.5" otherwise.

I'm a big fan of tweeters at ear level. Both my systems are setup that way.

I'm setting mine up for the tweeters to be at ear level. this will require a couple shims between the floor and the stands but the result will sound nice.

Tweeters at ear level unless your speakers have "Hot" tweeters then higher or lower might be a good thing.

Some of the best speakers in the world (like Wilson Audio) have their tweeters pointed upwards at an angle on purpose for proper time alignment. So having tweeters at ear level pointing straight at you may be perfect for some speakers, but not all for sure. And I'm certainly not a big fan of this for HT surrounds in most real life rooms where ear level makes them more direct and noticeable rather than diffuse (not to mention more in the way of foot traffic). Surround music is a different story.
