>I have two XPA-5 triggered from my XMC-1 and although I usually use "soft start" from "video on standby" mode, I have just confirmed that it does not occur for me with a full reboot from cold with the energy efficient power saving mode. I have one and only xpa5 amp connected to xmc, oppo105 and pc connected via hdmi too. Most times when I turn on xmc pc is selected (with pcm5.1 sound). I dont use video-on-standby mode, just standard on-off. All trigger settings are in default positions, even dont know what need to change there. I'll try to check different modes and trigger settings, maybe smth will help. However did you had trigger issue on previous firmware? I heard about same issue earlier and as solution emotiva did send special trigger cable (with capacitor) to fix that issue %)
>"It is in the DSP over which we have no control" As for me its very bad attitude. Issue in TIs internal DSP code, seriously? Is XMC1 the only product that uses that DSPs? I think no but never heared about such issues in other hifi products. Even if imagine that it is so - Emotiva and/or TI together should be responsible for that and have to find solution, up to return and replace bad dsps if cant fix in firmware. Customers have paid huge price for best processor that emotiva makes and it really sounds very good.. but cant play without pops and clicks, what a shame! If it cant play without such issues it cant be called hifi component

If it cant play without such issues it cant be called hifi component I fully agree with you on this. There is a fault. Emotiva should not claim to have no liability and leave it at that. Supposedly premium audio equipment does not perform it's most basic function. It is not a rare or unusual problem and it is not related to pairing the XMC-1 with esoteric equipment. It is a fundamental fault. The processor needs to pass an authentic silent digital signal inaudibly.
It is not a question of how much one chooses to be irritated by it or chooses to ignore it. End of story.

Dolby Loudness is a special feature which is available on SOME Dolby Digital audio content. The basic idea is that, for late night viewing, or if you just happen to be listening quietly, the dynamic range of the audio is compressed so you don't miss quiet dialogue. (So, at night, you can turn things down, and the loud parts aren't too loud, but you can still hear the quiet parts.) This is a version of what some folks call "midnight mode" or "loudness levelling" or even "low level dialog enhancement". Whoever produced and mastered the disc gets to decide exactly what happens when you invoke Dolby Loudness for that particular disc (and some don't enable it at all). From an audiophile point of view, it's messing with the dynamic range of your content, so it's evil.... but you might find it helps late at night or on some discs where the dialog is hard to hear. Off means Off, On seems to mean that it's always On (presumably only on discs that support it), and Auto means that it's only on for some content. (The standard itself seems to be somewhat vague about the details there - so you're on your own with that one. ) > 6) Dolby Loudness management now has three separate settings. What is this? Is it the "Loudness" button on the remote? How do we adjust it? Sincerely /b This answer has not cleared up his question fully, 3.1 version notes say Dolby loudness will have 3 settings, but when you press the loudness button only on and off are available. When you go into the main menu you have a box to check for loudness which is the same as pressing the loudness button on the remote, on and off. Then you have a setting that says loudness management with settings like DRC on, DRC off etc... how are most people to understand what all this means without some clear documentation. I thick a fair amount of people will press the loudness button expecting to see different levels of loudness available, or at least to be able to go into the menu find something called Dolby loudness with 3 level settings. It is not very intuitive to use and without clear documentation almost impossible to understand for most. I am not debating the value of its use, I am asking for clarity in its implementation and documentation.

Update went very smoothly. So far no issues. I'm using the video pass through mode and was able to power completely down with the remote, power back on with no changes or issues. No pops or ticks. Volume with video pass through engaged is more stable. Planning on watching a blu-Ray tonight.

'Dolby Loudness' is "Dynamic Range Control" (hence 'DRC"), and has three settings, as Keith described.

I have not had any issues described on the board except sometimes the video would freeze on directv and I just toggled the channel. I had no problem with the upgrade and have no performance or functional issues to report.

Could be a Directv transmission issue.

FW update went smoothly but the XMC froze up after a few minutes of use. A cold reboot fixed that issue and it did not happen again using either the XM radio or iTunes audio as a source. HOWEVER, no such luck when viewing the TV using HDMI pass through. The unit lost signal several times while watching a movie regardless of secondary audio setting NORMAL or HIGH. Turning on the XMC would return normal operation but it would reboot as if it was in low power standby not video pass through standby (as configured). The problem seems to happen when changing volume although I don't have enough time in to be sure. VERY FRUSTRATING to say the least. Russ Just noticed in another post by Novisnick he has seen the same issue.

Im now using my Harmony 700 to comtroll the XMC-1. Did the App work OK with 3.0? I think I've only used the App with 3.1 and only remember once where it seemed to stall a bit, before coming back to life. Then again, the App is only 1.0, some bugs expected, hopefully it will get some attention.

I could scroll through them, no names just HDMI 1, HDMI 2 etc. I dont recall any crashes though, ill have to go back and look at my posts.

Load went ok as far as I can tell, but I'm getting so weird stuff on the front panel when changing volume in ARC mode.

I would love to know the capabilities of the beta testers...seems a lot of issues for something that was beta'd for so long. seems like we are all beta testers all over again...I don't mind as I've offered to be a tester so many times I am emotiva blue in the face...but seriously I had expected a lot less issues on this 3rd release.

In fact, for me this has so far been the most stable firmware update yet.

It's been slow to react before this update. I've played with it, but have gone back to the remote.

How many with issues have tried a complete reset. That is, back up the configuration, reset to defaults, power off at the back for 30 seconds and after restarting restore the configuration. I know it's not supposed to be necessary but I always do it regardless. So far I've seen none of the issues described here.

Have not tried a factory reset but will do so later today. Also will try reloading the FW.
