Has anyone updated to the new software? If yes, have you noticed a difference? Is/was there an improvement? Any negative reports?
Just got the notice in the mail. Thanks
heres what I recieved
Dear OPPO Customer,
A new firmware was released for your OPPO BDP-103/BDP-103D/BDP-105/BDP-105D Blu-ray player on November 6, 2015. Containing 17 new features/bug fixes, this is a highly recommended update. Learn More about this new firmware and how to get it.
Getting the New Firmware - If your OPPO Blu-ray player has a connection to the Internet, you can easily and quickly upgrade over its Internet connection. Otherwise, you can upgrade via USB thumb drive or a self-created firmware upgrade disc. Detailed step-by-step instructions are available. You can also submit a request for a firmware upgrade disc to be mailed to you if none of these options are suitable for you.
The firmware is the system software that controls the features and functions of the player. Since the Blu-ray Disc specifications are still new and evolving, it is quite possible that recently-released Blu-ray discs use certain new features that were not available when the player was designed and sold. To ensure the best viewing experience, it is important to keep the player’s firmware up-to-date. If your OPPO Blu-ray player is connected to the internet, you may upgrade the player directly over the internet.
Do not reply to this e-mail. Click the Learn More link for more information. If you still have questions, you can contact us by E-Mail or by calling during our normal business hours. Replies to this e-mail are not actively monitored.
Best Regards, OPPO Digital Customer Service

Haven't really noticed much in the way of improvements, either.

I would like them to add in a screen saver while listening to music tracks, I always shut the Panny Plasma off due to the static screen.

(I have a 93 so don't stream via Oppo). Is it an option or just default. Album art does come through in my car from my iPhone, but that's a whole nother ball game.

Release notes for those interested:
OPPO BDP-103/BDP-105 Blu-ray Disc Player Firmware Version History
Main Version BDP10X-80-1031 Release Date: November 6, 2015
Loader Version: 6U1000 or 7B1400 (BDP-103), 7B1400 (BDP-105, BDP-105D, BDP-103D)
Sub Version: MCU103-05-0916 (BDP-103), MCU105-04-1113 (BDP-105), MCU13D-01-0618 (BDP-103D), MCU15D-01-0930 (BDP-105D), DB10X 131030 (BDP-103D, 105D)
Release Notes:
Added support for TIDAL Music Streaming. Requires use of OPPO MediaControl App v4.0 on your smartphone or tablet. Improved subtitle support for user-created media. Improved support for user-created WAV files with non-standard metadata tags. Improved gapless playback for 176 / 88.2 kHz WAV files. Resolved an issue with smearing or ghosting effects in Netflix. Resolved an issue where AIFF file playback would result in white noise when headphones were connected to the BDP-105(D). Resolved a bass management issue where the subwoofer would clip when 0 dB signals were sent to all channels when one speaker was set to small. Resolved a frame rate conversion issue where 25 Hz and 50 Hz user-created media was converted to 60 Hz when TV System was set to Multi. Resolved an audio loss issue that could occur with MKV files with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio tracks. For proper bitstream output of a Dolby TrueHD sound track in MKV files, the sound track must contain the full Dolby TrueHD audio data, including both the MLP and AC3 parts. If the AC3 part has been stripped out, the MLP audio cannot be output as bitstream and will be decoded into LPCM. The resultant LPCM will retain the full quality of Dolby TrueHD. Added support for ARIB STD-B25 and ISDB fonts. Fixed a channel re-mapping error where 7.1 MKV plays as 5.1 in the beta firmware 79-0711B. Resolved an issue where some MP3 files bought from Amazon Music Store are skipped in the beta firmware 79-0711B. Resolved an issue where "Exiting" YouTube doesn't return to the Home menu. Removed the Picasa application from Home Menu. Resolved an issue in Tidal where the "HIFI" indictor would not light up in the “Now Playing” screen for the first track. (Requires the upcoming OPPO MediaControl v4.0.1). Fixed an issue where the RS-232 command #QPL responds with @qpl OK HOME when the player is in the following states: “NO DISC”, “LOADING”, “OPEN”, and “CLOSE”. General disc compatibility improvements based on recent and upcoming Blu-ray releases as well as user-submitted disc samples. Expanded the character set library to support more languages in external subtitles.

I downloaded the update last night before our nightly movie. I didn't see any difference but the 103 in the theater has always been solid. The 105 on the other hand is a nightmare for video. I can't use any HDMI cable over 20' or the picture turns a weird purple tint; but only from the Oppo. The same cable works perfectly for cable tv. After going through a half dozen different cables, even the $200 one from monoprice claiming to solve long run issues, I finally went with a wireless rig and it works fairly well but picture still flutters from Oppo. Going to work with tech support this week on it. Been meaning to for some time now but too busy with other things like yesterday's amp shootout. Scott

I just updated firmware w/o any problems via wireless connection. It added Tidal. I will keep an ear/eye open for any noticeable changes.

Been meaning to for some time now but too busy with other things like yesterday's amp shootout. 8-) Scott I have been running an HDMI -DVI BJC with a 35' run with no problems. No flutter or loss of signal. In addition the cable is very reasonable in price. It is a thick cable but if you are running said cable thru PVC behind your walls no matter. If you are running the cable outside the wall you can always improvise. No need for signal booster. Anything under 100'. Lastly the cable is only as good as what you are connecting. In my case I am connected to a Mitshubishi projector to an Outlaw 990 processor with one cable and another cable connecting my Comcast to the 990. No issues with either source. Hope this food for thought...helps!

My 103 has no trouble with a longer run to the projector in the basement theater. Oppo 103 to Panasonic PT 8000 U in basement (gorgeous picture) Oppo 105 to Panasonic PT 7000 U upstairs (video issues galore) Scott

I updated. It did add Tidal. I do not subscribe to it. My 105 D has been glitch free so far

Anyone tried out tidal on it? I've been using Tidal since the last beta release for the Oppo 103. It works fine, but you need a tablet/smart phone to control it. The sound is CD quality.
