Yeah KeithL Gary CookWhat I really wanted was a dedicated SPDIF card of some sort ....and if it used AES or BNC that was a bonus. I would prefer AES but other than those cards with huge breakout cables priced at over $400 there was little to be had for the two channel market. This unit was $60 so much more reasonable.

I guess what I was saying is that BNC is of no real advantage over any other SPDIF connection, RCA or Toslink, all the same really so no need for any excitement. If the run is over a long distance and/or there is a chance of accidental physical disconnection, then BNC is the go. SPDIF (AES3 interconnect standard) carries two channels of uncompressed PCM audio or compressed 5.1/7.1 surround sound. It doesn't support multi channel lossless formats like Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD, they require much more bandwidth so need HDMI etc. Cheers Gary

I have had a huge urge to use a different connector as well! It bugs me that the DACs I've owned have connections that there were no (non-pro) source devices for the PC. I mean true you can use the RCA BNC adaptor which I do....but What I really want is a PCI card with a single two channels aes output...but this BNC looks pretty cool too! At least I could say I'm going to use a cable with the correct 75 ohm impedance for once!

Musiland Digital Times is scheduled for delivery tomorrow when the outgoing bands of tropical storm Cindy is supposed to show up too. I'm a little nervous about the drivers as apparently you have to find them on some chinese website written in Chinese. I hope they work well and have WASAPI support.
