Your oppo has to have the latest firmware for Tidal to function, you then download the Oppo Media Control App to you iPad, iPhone, Android phone and such and when you open the Oppo Media Control App it will have Tidal at the top, click on it and enter your account info to log in and voila you are now streaming Tidal to the Oppo and your TV/Projector does not need to be on.
Remember there are two Oppo Apps, one is Oppo Remote and the other is Oppo Media Control and the latter controls the Tidal streaming

Oh and Boomzilla I'm in the same boat as my iPad is first gen so I need to get a new or newer one to be able to use to Oppo Media Control App, but I have a Samsung Note 4 that I am presently using just fine, it's my phone and has a 5.7" screen muhahaha but a new iPad would be nice as well  Chad |

Also, download the oppo remote control app with the media app and set the oppo to quick start. Now when you open the app it will turn on your oppo.

Just bought an iPad mini ($269 plus tax). Now I need to back up my old iPad to iCloud & restore the apps to the new iPad.

audiobill will be pleased to know I finally got Tidal. Now that Sonos supports it, I figured I would give it a try. I generally like it, but I noticed that on some albums only selected songs are available (Adelle 19, for example). Mark

And, of course, nothing is easy...
Tried to install iTunes on the Toshiba with Win 10. "apple application support is required to run iTunes." Three strikes - the PC's out.
Backed up my old iPad to iCloud on the Mac - so far, so good.
Restored the iCloud backup to the new iPad & updated the IOS version - so far so good.
Went to set up the new iPad - got to "updating iCloud settings" now for about 15 minutes... We'll see...

Boom, an alternative is to stream Tidal from your new ipad to an airport express or apple TV that is connected to your oppo via toslink......

And there is that great Sonos interface which pulls from all my music sources including my own library and internet radio options. Mark |

I have been very happy with Tidal Hifi. I have been using it for 6+ months now, probably listening to some 20+ hours a week. The catalog is huge at 35M+ titles and the sound quality is so close to CD that I can not tell a difference.
I am using the Windows App (only Chrome, and Windows App support CD quality streaming on WIndows) on my Windows 8.1 Lenovo laptop. For internet I get best results using Ethernet cable, if I am on Wi-fi it stutters annoyingly from time to time. From the laptop the signal goes over Bluetooth to Yamaha YBA-11 lossless Bluetooth receiver, and then from there digitally to the Onkyo DAC/pre-amp. I am always on my two-in-one hybrid laptop/tablet, either working on the laptop or browsing in tablet mode in the evening, and this way I have always control over the music conveniently.
My proposed solution to your problem: Get a good quality BT receiver for less than $100, and stream directly from the new iPad to your system, leaving Oppo out of the equation.

I use Pandora to find new artists by typing in a favorite artist and ask for similar artists, Ive found many new and great artists in this manner, can I do the same with Tidal??
I have a channel named Dave Brubeck and have found many similar artists this way, Id like to be able to do the same with Tidal ,,,,,,if i could, can I???
Can I pay for Tidal with a PayPal account?

I am having Tidal cut out every so often...annoying. Will have to check my wiring in my network. It is hardwired...and running Time Warner's fastest available speed. Odd...it is nice to dial up about any music I want, but not if it keep cutting out.

It may have cut off now and then for a few seconds but 99% of the time TIDAL is musical bliss. I checked all of my connections, had Comcast send a signal to my modem to restart wifi signal and finally called APPLE. It was determined that nothing was wrong with my connections, wifi or APPLE TV. Here is a list of things I did that corrected the problem. What order you chose to do this (if at all) is up to you. Go to settings on iPad general/safari/clear history Clear your web browser Uninstall TIDAL Shut off your iPad...power it down, do not just shut it off Power up iPad Reinstall TIDAL/DO NOT COPY AND PASTE YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD...TYPE IT This worked for me, hopefully it works for you. |

Go to settings on iPad general/safari/clear history Clear your web browser Uninstall TIDAL Shut off your iPad...power it down, do not just shut it off Power up iPad Reinstall TIDAL I am not running mine from an iPad or computer...I am running mine via SONOS. I do control the Sonos with either my phone or tablet (both Android). I will clear their history and try tomorrow once the wife is done standing movies with her sisters.
